Possibly because he broke off negotiations on a contract extension just a bit after bumping into his mentor mate for coffee. Dodoro talked about it in an interview during the week.

No problem!
I'm not sure why you are so concerned. He is still a Bomber after all. You just need to make him "fall in love with Essendon again" & things will be all sweet.
Oh wait, Worsfold is still the coach.
You got troubles at your club.

Saw this on the rumours board, had a giggle. Joes true groin issues revealed!!

Heard a rumour that Joe Daniher is being asked to leave by the players after doing a Wayne Carey.

Anyone else heard anything similar?

It would have been kind of funny.

But they would have been smart.

If he was contracted for a year.
Disagree. Let a bloke go if he doesn't want to be there. Why risk hurting culture and morale?

What’s the hold up with jones

Not sure maybe Hill is their first priority to get done but if Papley wasn’t up for a club change think Jones would warrant a lot more discussion. Seems most people knew it was on the cards and know we will be losing that trade but the Papley thing has taken away from the significance or losing Jones or he isn’t rated anymore.

I remember Gerard Healy talking about the importance of signing him up but here we are.

Now I admit to being just a poor dumb Essendon supporter struggling to comprehend the wisdom so freely strewn about in a Ducks' supporter forum, but I think I might be able to help out here.

Bonar has been playing NEAFL and, as a player not valued high enough by his club to get a game in its midfield when Ward, Coniglio and Whitfield are all out, it's possible to see some logic in the idea that he might be available fairly cheap.
Daniher, on the other hand, is his club's premier forward, one of the highest paid players on the list, and all Australian the last time he was fit to play, and indispensable to the team structure.

I'm wondering whether a deep thinker, on a good day, might be able to spot a smidgeon of difference between the two, and how one might be available cheap, and the other not.
But what would an Essendon supporter know about such things? We are such a silly lot. Laughable really.
If he's so good, then why haven't you offered him an extension?

J Clarke said bombers knocked back 5 and 9
Surely we wouldn't be so dumb to offer that would we? If we did then heads need to roll. And why would Adrian Dorito be so stupid to knock it back?

Funny. Not a single comment from anyone at Sydney. All the talk has been out of Essendon. Goes to show the discrepancy in professionalism between the two clubs.
I know it's frustrating for us supporters but it actually shows a position of strength IMO. Dodoro has said we have met on 3 occasions. They face having an unhappy player on their list & losing him for far less this time next year. That is not a good look at all. The Swans would have what they believe to be a fair & reasonable offer on the table for them which would be a far superior one than they would get for him next year at no cost to us.

So our offer would be a win/win for the situation both clubs & player are in.
If we wait until next season & the Bombers hold Daniher & finish 4th to 8th in 2020, they will get a compo pick of around 10-15. Once all the father sons & academy players are bid on etc, that will get pushed back a significant amount of positions.
Holding onto a disgruntled Daniher & then still losing him next year is very much a huge problem Essendon won't really want to deal with.
As it stands & from reports, there are an estimated 15-17 father sons & academy players next season that can be bid on so any AFL compo pick Essendon receive for Daniher going as a FA, could move up some 10 places making their compo pick 14 become pick 20 if I'm not mistaken.

If we are offering picks 9 & 25, then I can see why we have had to meet 3 times thus far. I believe we would go as far as offering picks 5 & 9, though way over the top, but to get the deal done early & from new reports Punts posted on here, they are rejecting that, wanting a player.

We take him for free next year & can grab a decent future star "I want to go home" kid now with pick 5, with the knowledge we will get a first round pick for him in a better draft year in 2021/22 should he not want to stay show glimpses of being a star.

I am very comfortable sitting back as a supporter & letting Essendon hold him & stuff this up, but very uncomfortable paying anything more than 5 & 9 for a Daniher we know is fit & ready to go.
It will go down to the wire but I hope it doesn't stuff up anything else we have planned. This is very much Essendon's objective IMO.
Joe Daniher leaving Essendon is highlighting an issue at the club (surprise) & they have to make sure all looks in total control to the members.

Did anyone stop to think for a second that maybe, just MAYBE, the reason we are offering so much, and the reason Essendon aren't taking it, is because both clubs are aware that Daniher's injuries aren't as bad as is being reported?

Give both clubs some credit. Look at how much other injury affected players have gone for.

He will be a RFA next year, that has already nominated us as the place he wants to go to.
The Bombers have more to lose by waiting. We have more to lose not waiting.

Regardless of how I feel about trading for Daniher, it has always been about the price.

Hogan is a great measure of relative price for Daniher. I feel if we pay over that it would be a bad trade.

Also, of course injury would have to be a consideration of trade price. Same as anything that has needed repair.

I don't think we should pay overs, but if we are confident that we can get him fit, as I presume we are, honestly we'd have to pay A LOT for it to be way overs. I'd rather not wait and risk him changing his mind if possible.

Just don't see the benefit of them holding onto a clearly disgruntled player with 1 yr left on contract. Dodoro may be hoping for an o'keefe situation, but daniher appears to be almost at that bridge of no return.

When a player goes to the effort of throwing up excuse after excuse to leave...of which perhaps the last ends in being welfare/family related...u know they're just abt gone...

5 and 9 and a player, FMD Dodo knows how to waste time. We should just put our best offer, tell him that's as far as we go for an injured player, walk away and leave it up to Dodo to come back to us. In the meantime get on with the other trades we need to do.

Wrong. Dorito has publicly stated that they haven't offered Daniher an extension.

yup..i mentioned several times recently..

could be something that's come out from his rehab (depending on advancement) along with medicals (essendon's) as to why they're insisting on the high price...but will trust club with their due diligence..

for essendon to relent by wed..suspect we'll still need something close to wot they're asking..ie player + pick mix..else..no deal.

Although its a bit frustrating, I do like that our club are completely silent. Won't make much difference if we don't make a good deal, but nothing is worse than playing these things out in the media (peter bell).
Id like the club to come out and deny that they've offered picks 5 & 9.

Hope the current person hasn’t left during the trade period! :p

"Ability across the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel".
I've always wondered how they recorded and planned the TPP. I assumed that they used a program especially designed for such purposes and now I've discovered they use Excel like the rest of us plebs.
