I guess we should just sit back & wait & give the club a chance to at least see through this trade period.
Maybe Daniher is 100% ready to start pre season training on day one & all is well with him. We just don't know but even so, it's better to just give Essendon pick 9, 25 & whatever we get for Jones but keep Papley.
Again I am thinking that the numbers just don't add up & we must be chasing someone else of significance if we are looking for pick 9 in a deal with Paps.
On top of that we would just have too much cap space if we lose Papley & Jones on top of the Smith, Macca, Jack & Grundy retirements.
That's 6 players out that would have been on an average of 350-400K each, so that's at least $2M freed up in the cap.

A Cutler or Taylor won't cost more than 250K each. Something else must be in the works IMO.

there are plenty of things you can do with extra salary cap.

sign mills, heeny, dawson, florent and aliir until 2028.

So Barrett now blurting that it will be a 3 way with Carlton, Essendon & Swans.
Carlton give pick 9 for Paps with something significant coming back (pick 25 to use on Martin) to Carlton with Papley.
Essendon get pick 5 & 9 from Swans.
Swans get an injured Daniher who has played 11 games in 2 years & lose Papley & pick 5.

So basically we get Daniher for pick 5, 25 & Papley.
If there are serious question marks on Daniher's body going forward & any deal goes down like that, then it's time to question my loyalty to this team.

At this point I am backing our knowledge that Barrett is an idiot, just easing the pain on his mate Lloyd sitting beside him in the idiot booth.

Whoa, seen the latest deal being suggested on AFL website, just the most terrible deal for us to pick up a broken player.

Come on Swans, this is nuts territory, would go down as the worse deal of the AFL era. We surely can't be looking to do the trade suggested.

Yesterday Sam McClure thought Daniher was worth a pick around the 10 mark and he is biased towards the Melbourne clubs.

To be fair, it's a Damien Barrett article.

Other journalists have disseminated next to no actual news on Daniher in the last 24 hours, so hopefully it is just rubbish speculation. I'd be gutted if that was the trade, but I'm staying calm until we receive more information.

The guy hardly played in two seasons, he 26 next season, doesn't fit an immediate positional need and we're selling the farm for him!

Look, if Sydney get Daniher for a reasonable trade i'll be fine with it. I'm not sure he fills a need and would prefer someone in the middle but whatever. Picks 5 and 9 and lose Papley is ****ing ridiculous. I'll be extremely disappointed if that trade gets done, despite the significantly low percentage chance it does (i hope).
