I don't buy into that with the lad being 23. Big Boys take time and if he kicks a few bags of snags in the Magoos this year I can easily see him on the list for another 4 years.

Not everything needs to be interpreted in the redline. He may be indicating Port don't rate Mead in their top 30 so won't match a bid before 29, which it is largely assumed we would do. Or it may be that we won't match anything before 12 or 18, although no one seems to think that will happen.

Twomey already mentioning Port's ideal outcome being a bid for Mead after pick 29 (and stating Adelaide won't be bidding) adds to the potential for Port only looking at Mead post-pick 29.

Let’s hope so. It would make sense to take him higher if we had offloaded some of our other inside mids (with poor skills eg Atley,) but not a high priority to add Mead with all that type on our list. It may depend on who we get with our first 2 picks, and who is left, as to whether we use 29? If a powerful runner with nice skills is there at 29 that would be a higher priority?

I'd say in isolation 3 picks inside 30(ish) + mead would be a good result.

We havent confirmed to mead that if a bid comes we are 100% taking him

It's our biggest deficiency outside coaching, tall forwards would be less of an issue our mids could kick reliably.

The only reason I can think of trading Howard and bringing this guy in for a year is we’ve got something lined up next year. If we hit the draft for 2 years and bring in Luko the following year that could set us up for a while. Just need a good coach.
