jus before the season there was some...wishfull thinking that she is progressing faster than initially thought, so could potentially come back around finals/just before?

I don't know how feasible that is really. With how Grider has progressed, will be interesting to see how we go with a fully fit lutkins slotting in too.

Our remaining schedule:

Collingwood - 3rd

The Dogs' remaining schedule:

It'll be interesting to see how this all develops, given we don't play each other and we have a much higher average team remaining.

Looking forward to this game against Richmond, especially given the news today. They are a tough tackling team and it will be interesting to see how we go. I expect a few goal win but not sure about the weather conditions.

I'm comfortable in winning that game too. In Melb we finally vsed actual competition. Faltered a bit at the start but once we got our game going it was unstoppable.

Mikayla Pauga will make her AFLW debut this weekend when she runs out for the Brisbane Lions against Richmond at the Swinburne Centre tomorrow.

One of two changes to Head Coach Craig Starcevich’s Best 21, the agile and clever forward gets her chance with tall forward Jesse Wardlaw set to miss through illness.

Drafted to the Lions ahead of Season 6 at Pick 46 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft, Pauga arrived at the Club out of the Lions Academy and Bond University.
First-year Lion Dee Heslop will return to the Lions’ backline after exiting AFL Concussion Protocol earlier this week.

Heslop developed delayed concussion symptoms after the Lions thumping QClash victory over the Gold Coast Suns in Round 3 forcing her out of last week’s side.

Veteran defender Sharni Webb (omission) makes way for Heslop’s return this weekend.

Excited to have a debutant and healthy for the team to have some turnover now and then to keep giving younger players exposure and reward for effort.

A couple of big outs for Richmond too.

Lions bit from an AFLW article

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2

Brisbane v Essendon at Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex, 12.10pm AEST

Two of the most prolific attacking sides will go head-to-head on Sunday as Brisbane (averaging 56.2 points per game) host expansion side Essendon (41.8 points per game). The Lions will be smarting from their first loss of the season, where they simply couldn't find the efficiency in attack that they had enjoyed across the opening month. But what they have shown is that on a good day they can score, and they can score heavily. This looms as a problem for Essendon whose backline has been its weakest line so far this season, and now without key defender Ellyse Gamble they may be further exposed. For this reason, it is important that the midfield group works hard defensively to limit Brisbane's inside 50 entries, and then support when it does go down there.

At the other end of the ground, inaugural Lion Kate Lutkins is a chance to make her unlikely comeback from an ACL injury suffered in round one last season, less than nine months ago. Should she return, she would greatly bolster an already solid Lions defence, but would help release players like Shannon Campbell and Natalie Grider a little more to rebound really aggressively.

Tip: The Lions will get back on the winner's list. Brisbane by 15 points.

Just have to use space outside the contest. Our defence looks strong especially with Lutkins back. Forward line looks stronger with Wardlaw back. Up to the midfield to take control.

Good pressure early. Hickie is a true mobile ruck. Would be in huge demand in the mens gane with those skills and athleticism.
