That's what we said about Cloke too...
Cloke has a Premiership medal in his sock drawer.
Best contested mark we had for that decade.
If he played now he would be kicking 5 a week, even missing 7, the way the chopping the arms and hands in the back is mediated.

How many kids has Pebbles got?
Any males around drafting age?

We've got five main list spots to fill and five picks in the first two rounds

Seems to happen most years that GWS have quite a Few Top 30 Picks as each trade period seems always players leaving GWS

I think Collingwood with out going in to our first next year really need to fill the spine. I think we can all agree a defender or athletic ruck/def would be best with our last pick and then get Keeler and hope one of Phillipou, Hustwaite or Hollands slide.

Or in a perfect draft 16= Phillipou 25 = Keeler 27 = Gruzewski and rookie a ruck/def, maybe Lemmey

My point about ratings is why we shouldn't accept Pick 15.

We shouldn't just trade 25 and 27 to move into the first round. Those two picks are about the value of pick 10 and the difference between that and 15 is enough to warrant that we'd want something more in return. Points are important before deciding what to trade. I'd prefer us to wait until draft night and see who moves before trading.
Except they don’t have the value of pick 10. They have the value of pick 25 and 27. I’m not sure why it’s so difficult for you to understand this. If the club determines that a player who’s likely available at pick 15 is far more likely to make it than the players likely available at pick 25 and 27, then that makes 15 more valuable than those two put together, regardless of the points value.

Points aren’t important in determining the value of a trade if they’re not needed by either club. In fact, they’re completely irrelevant. Period.

Cheers, this is what I expected. GWS are not going to want to trade back by splitting picks. They have only so many list spots (five) and enough picks to fill them.

1,15,18,19 and 31. So zero interest in 25 and 27.

Best you could hope for, is if they really rated two players around their second pick, but were worried the Swans might take one of them at #17 before their pick #18 came around… maybe we could trade #16 and #25 for #18 and #19.

Do clubs still need to take 3 picks in ND as a minimum?
Well 3 picks. Can be 2 plus a rookie upgrade; but if you dont have rookies need to upgrade then yes you need to use 3 picks.

ok, I’m convinced. I know they are ‘highlights’ but when I see a player that tall who takes the ball at its highest point and is a good field kick and looks composed in traffic, that ticks a lot of boxes.
there is a lot to like. able to play both ends of the ground is a bonus
Looks like he can play, but is he a bit lumbering?

Most teams are looking to trade up this year not down. There is no chance we get pick 10 for picks 25 and 27. Ignore the points they are more then irrelevant. I dont see us getting a pick around 15 either. A pick around 18 would be the best we could do with both of those picks. But GWS dont want extra picks in this draft they have to many already. So I dont see them doing a deal.with us. The most likely deal would be pick 25 or 27 for a future 2nd. North dont have many picks this draft, so I would target their future 2nd. Maybe we can target Essendon's future 2nd as well once the Davey matching is done we swap our pick 27 for their future 2nd to give them a pick this year or like as been suggested get 22 for 27 and 51 because they want points for Davey.

I’d hope it’s the 3 picks.

Given we’ve bought in the mature players we did, plus having depth in Kelly and Dean, I can’t see how the club can justify keeping Madgen.

Particularly when a decent pick like 28/29 is the alternate option.
I think we'll try to convert 25 or 27 into a a better 2023 draft position, but still think Madge and Poulter are in trouble as pick 51 will come into the 40s and I think we'd be likely to have someone we want who is well down the order.

he is just shy of 200cm, moves ok to my eye. They can’t all be Darcy Moore ( who is similar height )
everyone seems to be raving about Keeler, he is all legs, will get bumped off the ball too easily, will be the floating player while Lemmey can be that key pillar who can sit under the high ball and compete, at either end of the ground, prefer forward though.
just my opinion

That Essendon situation is really interesting, holding pick 22. I think they'll get a phone call during the draft - we're about to draft Davey - Do they want you to bid on him, so they can get him as a points match? Do they offer something in trade for the caller's pick so that can take someone first and then hopefully get Davey with matching, but running the risk of missing out all together if the bid for him is after 20?

Neither of those guys are going to play in 2022 unless there are 15 on the injured list.

Rip the bandaid off.

Is 25 and 27 for their 22 and a future 2nd a good outcome for us? Gives them enough points after matching a Davey bid to get another player inside 30.

I think it would be an outstanding outcome.

Davey is yet to actually nominate them and there is now growing speculation he won't.

Why not try swap pick 27 and 51 for their pick 22.

Then trade pick 25 for their future second once they match.

Better outcome for both parties.

AFL have closed that particular door after the Sydney - West Coast trade shenanigans where they did exactly the same thing to circumvent paying "full price" to match a bid (can't remember which draft or player it was exactly but they flipped around picks in the 20's and future seconds / thirds either side of the bid in question iirc).

How many draft picks are we likely to take? 2 or 3? I've thought 2 but now with the extra 2nd rounder, it'll be interesting how we use it.
Not sure. If there is no hope in trading up, then you'd think we will take the 3 picks. But we have no way of knowing what Dekka/Wright's plan is going into the draft.

Trading of picks begin tomorrow though.

I think they only closed the loop when you're trading in and out of the exact same pick.

We would be trading them pick 27 first and then pick 25 in that particular scenario. Both of which they never had.
