List Mgmt. 2024 Trade & List Management Thread

Tell him to talk to St Kilda or Essendon, we've got far more pressing needs than looking at someone like Oliver. If we're going to open the war chest then we should be looking at a KPD or KPF and possibly a small forward.

First sensible sentence on this page. We need a specialist crumbing fwd, ala bett. We need a lockdown small defender ala chris johnson ob lions. Then it's another powerhouse key fwd.

So who would you be targeting that we would have a realistic chance of getting with our war chest.
I think ‘realistically’ it’s very slim pickings given where we’re at with our rebuild but I’d be enquiring about Ben Ainsworth & Blake Hardwick. Maybe Caleb Marchbank I don’t really know too much about him. Isaac Cumming would be great but I think he falls into the unrealistic category hard to see him leaving GWS.

From the Age article about St Kilda. The Scoop by Sam McClue

The club cleared more than $2 million from its total player payments at the end of last year when it allowed Jade Gresham to join Essendon, Nick Coffield to join North Melbourne and Jack Billings to join Melbourne.

The scoop? The pooper scooper more like it.

Huge if true.

I’d happily have both Isaac Cumming & Blake Hardwick on the list. Would sure up our medium/small defender situation.

Only concern with Cumming is his injury history, has had a fair few soft tissue injuries over the last 3/4 years.

If they were paying those 3 potatoes 2 mil - what are they paying their decent players

Losing Goater and CCJ to Achilles injuries is a straight loss to put list. We can't trade them, we can't play them. Were so unlucky.

We need to throw serious money at free agents to improve the list

Get me Josh Battle and Ben Ainsworth

The loss of TT is huge.

Yes it is and so is the Phillips choice, Mahony choice, the ******* Will Walker choice.

Add in Declan ******* Watsons, let's not forget that decision.

So now we need to find replacements for Stephenson, Tucker, CCJ, TT & Pink.

And I'm not sure having pick 2 in the draft will assist us any.

If we have cap to spare I would be using on it on some senior players that have actually been to top of the mountain. 2 year deals on good money just to help with the list balance. I would throw good money at Parker, McRae, crisp, libba. Wd need to protect these young mids or they will be done by the time they are 25.

Remarkable we've been turning over list for five years.
And at end of this year we'll face a huge cull again.
I know some will stay, but most of the following appear done or pretty unlikely to make it: TT, Taylor, Shiels, Stephenson, Tucker, CCJ, Pink, Nyoun, Drury, Greenwood, Corr, Free, Hansen Jr.
You could easily throw in a half a dozen more that we have fingers crossed on. Archer, Lazzarro, Phillips, Stephens. Comben is one more major injury away as well.
Will Zurhaar stay?
That is 19 blokes there that could potentially depart before too long.
Good lord this has been poorly managed.

Until we start to show some genuine improvement and win a few games we won’t be getting anything of quality through trade.
All we're in the market for right now is

A. Overpaid C graders
B. Washed up players looking for a final pay day
C. Players who aren't getting a game
D. Players who are getting a game but not on their preferred position.

That's the unfortunate reality at the moment.

Start throwing money willy nilly, all you end up with are Polec and Corr types.

I thought about starting the 2024 delisting thread, but felt it's a little early lol.
Yes I agree with;

Stephenson
Taylor
Tucker
CCJ
Pink
TT - sad as that is
Drury
Free
Hansen Jnr.

Then

Comben
Biggy
Lazzaro
Phillips
Archer
Harvey
Greenwood
Shiels
Stephens

^^^ Are all on AFL career deathwatch.

I think Cam will stay but haven't heard anything.

I just pretty much copied your post, but I really wanted to see it for myself lol.

WHo the * made these decisions. We are 2 years into a rebuild and had finished

2017 - 15th
2018 - 9th
2019 - 12th
2020 - 17th
2021 - 18th
2022 - 18th
2023 - 17th

And the draft years between 2017 - 2020 we had 25 selections across all the drafts and have the below to show for it.

1. LDU
2. Xerri
3. Scott
4.Powell
5. Ford.
