My ideal world from this draft would see us shift up slightly and grab Lachy Dovaston if he’s still there in the late teens, and then grab Sumner-Pickett late. Probably can’t get that done plus trade players in. I can dream though. It would leave us in a position of having two decent crafty small forwards, and would mean we can focus on using Berry and Richards between the arcs rather than as small forwards.

If we then picked up Zac Bailey as a free agent next year, even better. All of a sudden our forward line is ready to go (assuming it gets coached properly for the first time in years).

If we got him + another decent small forward (draft or trade), our forward line looks a lot better. Need a few guys who can crumb + apply defensive pressure in our forward line. Not just one of those things - both.

A great return for a Ressies GF for Latrelle.

Has to be on the radar bigtime for us.
the 1st problem is he would also be on Melbourne's radar as well (and their picks is 23 one before ours). he could also be on Richmond and Essendon's radar who both have picks before us.

the 2nd problem is that due to compo picks and academy picks our pick 24 will be pushed back about 5 positions to around pick 29

So, to have a shot at him we would have to move our pick 24 (or 29) to pick 19

Id be surprised if he goes that early, has had alot of dud games as well and 4 goals at ressies is not a high bar. Not saying dont consider him, as it is a need, but to me the hype from a few here seems excessive.

According to Cal Twomey's September draft ranking Latrelle's ranked 30th.

"The supremely talented small forward finished his year in brilliant touch, booting four goals in Glenelg's reserves Grand Final win over Sturt. One of them showed his fast feet and fast thinking, as he sidestepped an opponent on the boundary line from a set shot and slotted the goal on the run. Pickett, a cousin of Melbourne's Kysaiah, kicked 32 goals from 18 reserves games this year, and five goals in three senior appearances. He turns 20 in December but has plenty of clubs closely tracking him given his class and pace."

That 2nd goal has FIGJAM all over it.

His goals were varied as well, a snap around two guys, an extremely intelligent selling the candy on the mark for no real good reason but to impress recruiters, judging the flight of the ball over the back and the old scrubber on the ground at angle.

He's got some serious black magic about him.

Had a quick look at the Port segment on Gettable and both Riley and Cal expect Port to trade forward and there are clubs who need points this year and will deal with us.

By forward - do they mean to 2026 picks?

I guess it’s the last year, you can use lots of late picks, for getting points for early picks. What future picks could we realistically get?

Byron Pickett Jnr playing for Nightcliff in Darwin. Guess he's not expecting to get drafted anywhere.

Wasn't he playing in a local league on the Eyre Peninsula? Don't think anyone expects to get drafted from there 😂
Yeah kicked over 100 goals for Western United. Getting drafted wouldn't be entirely unprecedented I remember a guy from Booleroo Centre, somewhere up that way got drafted to Brisbane but ended up retiring due to concussions. Think his name was Clarke?

That sounds like Justin Clarke, but I wasnt aware of him kicking 100 goals in a season.

Clarke played in defence for Brisbane, concussion ended his career after a few years, went back to full time engineering study and won a Rhodes Scholarship.
