Half way through the season, and we're sitting 3 and 8. With eleven games to go, it is mathematically possible for us to make the 8.

However with away games against the Saints and Brisbane as virtually certain losses, away games against the Eagles and the Swans as likely losses and a near certain loss as well in the next Showdown, a return of around 9 to 10 wins for the year would appear to be our very best result.

If we play like we did today, it will certainly be less.

Smart should go, Massie's struggling, and Hart will be unavailable.

Bassett should be available, and I would include Reilly as one of my ins.

Is this the game we should start to be be trying Rutten out with a mind to whether he has a future or not?

If not, who else should come into the side this week??

Just an interesting stat on our performanes in games won by 12 points or less in 2003 and this year.

There have been a total of 9 games decided by 12 points or less in that time.

Of those 9 we have LOST 8

Last year we couldn't win a close game to save our lives. We lost all bar 1 (Sydney at home) of those games last year.

Just tells you that we are mentally soft.

Certainly that's one of the factors.

I'd lay you a bet as well that in every one of these losses that they could have been wins with pro-active coaching.

Frustrating isn't it?

Very true.

Ah well looking forward to a new coach and some young guns next year ;)

That stat on close losses is no surprise really when you think about it. When under intense pressure, our skills, our gameplan, our decision making, all falter more often than not from the majority of players and dare I say it, also from our coaching staff. We look good against witches hats but against real opposition....our record against good clubs shows that.

For this week's game, Watts would have to be very close, particularly as he's been an emergency for the past 3 weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bock get a rest in exchange, much like Jericho did. Reilly should also return, together with Bassett.

You don't have to be Ashalea to work out the other omissions.

well all I can say is thank goodness I will be perched on the sofa at home watching this one. mind you.......we are probably going win - after all it is an away match and we go from hot to cold and back in a matter of days!

The Crows are not going to make the finals. Mathematically probabilities are worth nothing when you put in a peformance like yesterday's.

OUT:
Smart
Hart (injury)
Johncock (needs some SANFL time IMO)
Massie

IN:
Reilly
Watts
Rutten
Biglands

We are going to get absolutely towelled up by the Eagles this w/e, simply cause we are crap and Worsfold will out coach Ayres it's as simple as that:(

W/C by 38 pts

I am glad you are not part of the match committee.

THose in and outs are shocking. You drop 4 running players and bring in 3 tall lumbering players. What the hell happened to team balance??????

Yeah, it's still mathematically possible to make the finals, but the probabilities are very low - & even lower (or near impossible) of winning a GF. So we must look to the future & make decisions on our squad.

Agree that Smart should go, as he just doesn't have the speed of the mark anymore. Massie's is really struggling with his disposal & needs to go back to the SANFL. No point playing Hart until he 100% right as he is a valuable commodity.

Hopefully the Hound will be back (boy could we have done with him on Fevola yesterday). Is Begley still a week away? Perhaps time to try Bock in back-pocket. Gallagher could play a HBF. Reilly must come in, preferably on a wing or a HBF if need be.

Here's one idea that may work...

how about we make the boys fly over to subiaco, only give them their shorts to play in, and make them play against the West Coast. When it's proven that they can put in a solid two quarters, we give them one article of clothing back..along with some diginity.

If that doesnt make them perform, nothing will.

On second thoughts, just put Connor McLeod, Zac Hart, Tyson Edward's son and Schuback's son in the squad this week. They will show more promise then some others at the moment. Massie is gone!

If you want to do it like that, start them off with nothing - that'll get them playing.. :p
