We should drop to the bottom of the ladder after this round is done.
Eagles have the Giants... With the GWS awesome forward line it could get ugly for the eagles.

Nonetheless I'll go second bottom. Melbourne by 87 points

You'd have to think Melbourne create a lot more inside 50s than Hawthorn. However I can see a scenario where Dees butcher a lot of scoring opportunities and Hawthorns forwards like Gunston and Breust return to their usual accuracy after last weeks mishaps. In which case a Hawks victory is worth a punt at the long odds.

Would love to see the young Hawks side take it right up to the Dees but the realist in me feels that this will be a hefty Melbourne win, especially with no Sicily.

I don’t tend to listen to the realist in me when I do my footy tipping though, so Hawthorn by a point.

What timezone do you live in?

He is playing.

Hawks by 91.

Last few games between Melb and Hawthorn have been reasonably close, with Melb just pulling away late.

Expect more of the same with our suss forwardline connection, but if we can't win this we are screwed because the fixture gets way harder after this.

The first game last year was ugly. We kicked 1 goal to half time from a dodgy free kick. 2nd game was much more competitive but Melbourne were still clearly the better team

Have Hawthorn beaten Melbourne this century?

Wow surely a side that has won 4 flags this Century has beaten the Mighty Dees at least once

Since 2000 - 35 games
Hawthorn: 21
Melbourne: 13
1 Draw

Since 2012 (another bigfooty benchmark) - 16 Games
Hawthorn: 7
Melbourne: 8
1 Draw

Ta. I’ve heard of Hawthorn’s achievements, I just don’t recall them sorry.

2018 already feels like ancient history. I vaguely remember smacking the Hawks at the G in a final there… and I don’t think we have lost to them since. Bunnies.

There was a draw between the sides in your fake covid bubble flag year too

Not expecting to win, but unlike last seasons games against Melbourne, I'm certainly not expecting to be smashed.

28 scoring shots last week.
Won the inside 50 count.
Should have won that game if we're being honest.

I'm confident our midfield and captain will improve on some suspect form from last Saturday and make it a competitive contest.

They may improve but also remember your young midfielders are going against a significantly better midfield than the one they played last week.

It'll be closer than some people think but I'd back us to win by 4-5 goals.
