If we go on what actually happened, essendon dominated the centre clearances. The game would have been different if even one of those points was a goal.Problem with this thinking is that Hawthorn won the first possession from centre bounces, but didn’t win the clearances.
It’s why Reeves ended with a higher amount of Hits to advantage, yet we lost the centre bounce clearances.
Hawks fumbled, stumbled or lost the ball numerous times in the middle, but does it happen every time if they were to turn every one of those points into a goal? Probably not.
