Not sure anyone is claiming any heroes here.

AFL Evolution 2 is the Joe Biden of video games. Everyone knows it's not very good, but it'll still get sales because of the label attached, including by people who recognise that (e.g. myself).

and like Biden previous contenders might possibly be seen as bitter if they keep taking pot shots after dropping out of the race.

Very well played.

Sometimes you can get some nice link play like above. I squibbed the initial kick but the handball play was nice. I also quite like that the Hawks defender came at me at like 17 seconds but with Hunt I had the speed to run around him and lay out a nice kick to Weiderman.

But unfortunately for every 1 cool play like that you get something ridiculous like this:

So credit where credit's due, that was a fairly fun match. Lost 54 - 58. Really thought I would have a shot on the siren to win it as I was working the ball up the ground nicely but just ran out of time.

If you play with a down the ground camera, you can lock onto players and have them lead at you. It's not the best system ever and they don't always do what you want but it's generally pretty good. My settings are: End-to-end, far, zoom 60, height 50, rotation speed 30, movement speed 50, marking look at landing. To do switches you pretty much need to look at the mini map but if you've taken a mark you generally have time

I actually think that the marking mechanic is decent. I upped the difficulty to the second hardest mid way through the game (had been leading 5-1 goals beforehand) and I suddenly noticed that if you don't bump, brace and spoil then the CPU will out mark you a lot. I genuinely feel that the player in the best position to mark is now getting rewarded. You notice that when doing short chip kicks to the lead. I think this is much better than any marking that is based on a purely timing element, because ultimately positioning is 75% of any marking contest.

Going to start a Demons season now because why not...

The sliders have been a godsend if you ask me! I’ve practically locked down on the most enjoyable settings in terms of sliders and CPU difficulty thats both 1. Giving me a challenge and 2. Matching shitty mistakes I make to the CPU glitches.

One thing killing it for me though is the over-pressing of Circle/B when attempting to quickly speccy/goal kick and it feels like the game just takes over. FIFA used to have the same issue but I don’t think its as bad anymore.

My biggest issue at the moment (in gameplay terms) is not realising I took a mark in a big pack, playing on inadvertently and getting pinned holding the ball.

I need to train myself to not press any buttons after a pack marking contest until it's clear who has the ball.

Has anyone managed to play a single game as the Eagles at Optus, and have a crowd of Eagles fans? Because I have not :( Played Collingwood at the MCG and if anything the crowd was neutral. Lots of random teal in the crowd for some reason.

Will lol if I go fourth-round pick after smashing the U18s, would be averaging something around 180 DT pts a game.
Wouldn't put it pass this bug shit hole though.
Its based on overall points so you need to focus on hitting match and season objectives. Bit touch when you are a FF and your season goals are tackles, handballs and hip and shoulders

Yeah I was 81, could have been higher but the crap game crashed. Ended up simming and went to Fold Coast.
Probably won't bother, the only team I didn't want to play for.

It’s so bad that it’s good and somewhat addictive is the feeling I get playing this game. Even though the core gameplay is actually well crafted, as are the player movements and skill variations. (Referring to switch version).

clearly needs refining and patching.

So they are the big heroes because there wasn't enough money? But then they still critisize the competition knowing the budget restrictions on a game they refused to produce at that price because it wouldn't be good enough?

If the choice is between BigAnt making nothing and telling us about how they are moral heroes and between wicket witch actually making a ******* game I'll take the game. Don't really give a shit about hearing about how things could be better with a company who ain't doing anything about it.

Any chance of posting something with any form of truth to it?

From Facebook:

Great to see so many people enjoying AFL Evolution 2 and we hope that the early release has made the COVID-19 lockdown a bit more bearable.

We understand there are a few bugs and we are busy trying to resolve them. The plan is to have at least 2 patches:

  • The first is to be made available in 2-3 weeks. This will deal with the more pressing issues such as the AI behaviour, career related bugs, stats accuracy, smoothing the Switch gameplay, and more.
  • The second is to be made available a few weeks later, which will deal with the less critical bugs. It will also take advantage of the Unreal Engine capabilities and introduce some further optimisations.

Also please note that there is a day 1 patch available for Switch which you may need to manually select to update on your console. This should already give you some improvements.

Thanks for your support. Stay Home, Stay Safe!

So 2 months until they prop my frame rate above 30. Absolute skeleton crew at WW I'm presuming

From Facebook:
I’m finding that once you turn up the difficulty to Legendary (highest), plus change the AI pressure awareness slider, they don’t make too many stupid mistakes. The biggest one out of the box was kickins. They’d love to play on from a kick in, and as soon as I put pressure on them, they’d bomb it out on the full.

But once I changed every teams kick in structure to a more realistic zone or press (instead of man on man by default), and changed the AI pressure awareness slider, I’ve found that maybe only 2 or 3 times in an entire game they fk up royally. (They now hit targets most times)
Having grown up watching the Dees play, I can safely say this isn’t too far off reality..

Also, on another note, cheers to whoever suggested ensuring that your second ruckman starts on the bench (and is actually in the 22!)
This has had a big effect on selected ruckman at bounces - almost always its one of these two guys now.

I think the point is you shouldn't HAVE to do all of that shit.

If you take the disc out and blow on it, crank the settings up to legendary, adjust tackling down to zero, pressure awareness up to 100, umpire rough conduct to 60...

Adjust your aspect ratio down to 2:1, reset your console, start your ruckman on the bench and Cam Polson at full forward, draft Cain Ackland, adjust quarter length to 6 mins...

Adjust team ball movement to attacking, slider for AI accuracy to 90, change defence to huddle at kick outs, put Polson on the ball now...

THEN you can have a realistic experience and dodge all the bugs gaiz.

Spot on.

I think a lot of people appreciate the sliders.

If WW was smart they would make the new changes the default (in future) so their audience doesn't have to fiddle when a lot don't want too.

That is not whinging its feedback they would want. It's dumb how the same few people are defensive every post. The same people who screamed the "day one patch" that already dropped is going to fix everything.

Worked well for me too. I moved Vardy from his default position in a forward pocket to the bench (which meant dropping Petruccelle), and set him as second ruck (instead of the default choice of Darling). Ignored ASADA and put Rioli in Vardy's now-vacant pocket. Even if the patches change ruckman behaviour, I'll probbaly keep this as my default team.

Tom Cole still did some rucking for some reason (7.5 min quarters), but 90% was Naitanui and Vardy.

Also assigned Hurn to kick-ins instead of the default choice of Barrass.

I have yet to touch sliders as I'm waiting to see what changes the patches make to the default gameplay first.

I love the idea of sliders, that you can craft the game to play the way you want to play. And a lot of that is subjective, everyone will prefer a different setting. But when adjusting sliders stops the AI from spraying it out on the full ... It's pretty clear the default settings are objectively wrong in certain cases.
