AFL still fourth best attended sporting competition in the world

It was tongue in cheek. Mostly.

Let's examine your own quote from another thread:

Who's judging or being superior? If you're gonna judge people, then I'm entitled to judge people. Simple.

I don't want to derail the thread any further, so I'll leave it at that.
Thats a hell of a stretch. A thread discussing ordinay commentators, i highlight an ordinary commentator somehow relates to you calling an entire sport worthless. Nice try.

Although it is interesting that since the 2012 expansion, the total number of people attending (not just the average) has dropped as well.
They should be dropping because they AFL is no longer creating matches to maximise attendances.

I dare say the afl atmosphere wouldn't stack up too well though. Particularly this season with the force fed 'match day experience' rubbish.
The Bundesliga is king in the department.

Tickets are chep, food and drinks are cheap, clubs work on a 50 plus 1 rule (meaning that members and fans always retain majority share). Dortmunds yellow wall is very impressive most games and really good come big european fixtures.

But many of the NFL teams are based in much smaller cities population wise

No doubt but a lot of them would be comparable to say Adelaide or Perth, who support two teams. Don't get me wrong - the NFL still rules the roost in terms of average attendance just pointing out that the AFL does incredibly well when you factor in population.

You didn't like my original comment. So what you are trying to do is to conflate it into a theme which is designed to shut down debate (including cherry picking a dictionary definition which in fact has a number of other meanings). That's OK, I enjoy a debate, but don't try to put words into my mouth.

What debate are you talking about?

No, it is totally correct.
2010 6,494,564
2011 6,533,138

2012: GWS get added, there's an extra game per round, and yet the total number of people attending drops.

No, you are totally incorrect, you stated since 2012 (look at your own post) ......

Since 2012 the total amount of people has risen every year, home and away and finals

if we used a graph representing averages in the last 30 to 40 years you would find blips on the radar but an overall upward curve

Whilst we all agree that crowds seem to be down, we are still doing pretty well.

Fabio is always fast and loose with the facts and figures. Footy attendance reached a peak in 2011 and has failed to recapture that since. Averages only improved last year because of the novelty of Adelaide Oval.

Wrong clog boy, it is 2010 but what would you know, you think 20 odd teams in 1985 is more than 41 in 2014.

Why are we a marvel? A lot of people probably think we're stupid for caring so much about sport.
