Is anyone really anti-Queensland in cricket?Just the typical anti Queensland offended that’s common in here and the Mexican media
He's not in the squad so chances really aren't good.Khawaji and Head have done nothing in the current shield games. The chances of Maddinson playing in the test team surely are looking better, only needs runs in the trial matches perhaps.
18 wickets for 400 runs on that pitch. Take out Marnus gritty ton and Streets knock and you are down to 18 wickets for 200 runs on a pitch that was clearly underprepared. Captains and match referees decided the pitch was dangerous not marnus
Who wanted Marnus to open?
Hiding down the order playing 12 of his 19 Tests at #3?
Couldn't make runs yet ended up scoring a century on the same pitch that was so poor both captains agreed to call off the day's play?
I'm not even sure why I bothered replying.
Yeah, I know. But he was having a crack at Labuschagne about it. My mistake was not realising it was just a little shout-out in a wider insult to Khawaja.
He got 70 in a total of 129 on a greentop literally last Shield match.Taking out the jellybacks who’d collapse on the SCG, the fact QLD still managed 300 means it can’t be that bad. Khawaja just only makes runs on roads.
An innings in which the media said that gritty toughness shows he deserves to be in the test team.He got 70 in a total of 129 on a greentop literally last Shield match.
He's not in the squad so chances really aren't good.
Said this for years. People don't want to hear it.But why not? I sometimes think we need to take the romanticism out of selecting the national team. If a wicketkeeper will save you more runs than another option makes when batting, the former is better for the team. Likewise if you have a Captain that through setting fields and rotating bowlers more than compensates for their lower batting average or higher bowling strike rate, why would you go with another option?
* I know that there is power in a Captain being able to lead from the front etc, but can't we be just a bit more objective?
Sorry you are correct, surely the 15 man squad should have been picked a little later then it was.
Que? I literally said "My mistake" in the post you quoted. The problem is you’ve completely confused 2 seperate posts as being the same thing…
Don’t blame other people for your mistakes.
It will be interesting to see how the public adjudicates the next captain, whoever it ends up being.Said this for years. People don't want to hear it.
'Gotta be able to lead from the front, get on the front foot!'
'Mate, he can't hold a bat to save himself!'
'His keeping's sh*t, and we don't need a comedian.'
'Poor footwork, arrogant. No thanks.'
'He's past it, he's useless!'
People are at Finch despite being the best ODI/T20 captain in the country by a mile, and has been his entire career.
They do not want a thinking/strategic captain. They want bouncers and boundaries.
5-nill, now fu** off.
An innings in which the media said that gritty toughness shows he deserves to be in the test team.
But he's obvs just on the wind up so what's the point View attachment 1286966
He'd love someone of Khawajas quality in the poms lineup. Even Tim Paine as a specialist bat would be an improvement on that lot.
Yes, that's the one.Yeah Tim Paine, the bloke who our captain will pass his career tally in one calendar year…
Probably moot now anyway given Head has totted up a 50.Sorry you are correct, surely the 15 man squad should have been picked a little later then it was.
Burns has been given a few chances and shown he's not up to it. Street has been identified as a prospect for the future for sure, Neser has been in the squad for a while as has Swepson. They're both missing out because the incumbents have been good for a long time and have earned some rope. The media all are.
Burns, Usman, Street, Neser and Swepson never given the respect or opportunities they deserve compared to their interstate peers.
Marnus as well.
Just because blokes failed in one game shouldn’t mean they are now not a chance to be in the team.
This type of thinking is why we have chopped amd changed so much
Still think the squad was picked to early and should have been selected after next week ends games.
Because he’s not a very good on-field captain anyway.
People are forgetting that it was Starc and Lyon who were toothless last summer with the ball.
These 2 need to lift. I'm not even convinced Starc should play at the Gabba.
Quarantine would have been an issue I imagine
Khawaja before Head by a mile.
Still think Ussie should open and Maddinson at 5.
Yeah Tim Paine, the bloke who our captain will pass his career tally in one calendar year…
There's some pretty clear evidence in The Test documentary (just finished it a couple of nights ago) that he's not a particularly great on-field captain. The reflection session that they have after Stokes got England out of jail is pretty unflinching and Paine comes across as really defensive, maybe a bit petulant.Everyone says this about any captain selected.
