Was mentioned before that there may be clauses in the reserves set up for both AFL clubs not to be able to poach contracted SANFL coaches, I'm not sure if this is correct. I'd be surprised if Mattner went to be an AFL Reserves coach after being in charge of his own team, straight into an assistant role would be more likely.
I'd be wrapt if he stayed at Sturt for one more year.

I would think Martys ego and talent would mean he would demand a Line Coach role rather than ''work his way in''

Campo is not going anywhere. I can't believe that there are sections of the supporter base still potting this bloke. Just take a look at our midfield transformation and development of players since Dangerfield left. It has been remarkable and Campo is in no small part responsible for that.

I always thought Campo copped a rough end of the stick from supporters. He just tried to make the best of the cattle he was given and in years gone past that is a whole heap of inside midfielders with no outside runners. Now we have both and the results are obvious. Campo does deserve more respect from fans than he is getting.

IN Campos first number of years at the club, the midfielders profile we had a as a club were inside, contested ball winning midfielders with no outside pace or break away ability. He worked with what he was given and did the best he could with the players at his disposal.

In the last 3-4 years we started recruiting players that added what we need. Seedsman, Hampton, Atkins, Gallucci, Cameron built his tank to the point where he can spend more time around the ball. Players take time to develop and familiarise themselves with the new environment. It doesn't happen over night. Now that they are familiar with their environment and they have developed to AFL standard, we are seeing the fruits of the labour.

As an outside midfielder himself back in the days, do people really think that Campo did not appreciate what outside midfielders bring to the game? He has a much more balanced pool of midfielders to chose from now and the results are showing. If you really analyse it closely, our midfield structures have not changed significantly in the last 5 years but our mix of players is very different and they are all getting developed to spread from stoppages. A more diverse midfield means much better results this year.

He's been around a while and we really were shit in the middle.

Now we're not. So I'm torn as to whether he's good or not. I don't know.

Exactly, it's bloody convenient that our midfield starts looking miuch better in terms of structure and movement from the stoppage after the arrival of Walsh and then Pyke. I'm not saying it wasn't Campo led, I'm just saying he's got a long history of improving nothing and there's a chance that his involvement wasn't crucial to the changes. Of course, he may have finally been given his head under these coaches and be the sole architect. I know someone who has had access to the club and he is under the impression that Campo is well regarded in his role.

I missed them talking too much about it, but one of the people on their suggested they had a bit of a scoop on a Crow's player heading elsewhere. I thought they were talking about a current player but am sure they said Thommo to go as an assistant coach. Perhaps if we offered him something it may not have been a substantial enough role. If he has designs on senior coaching or midfield coaching, leaving us is the best way to go about that.

He's got a development coach role with us like VB lined up, but Kane reckons he's a chance for the Westies job.

Its time for new voices in the coaching box. Pyke better learn about being more flexible if he wants to be a great coach. Also did anyone pick up that Richmond commented at halftime that we were fighting on the ground with each other??

+1 couldn't stand him as a player, always carved us up but would make a excellent coach for us
