Discussion on the rumours is in this thread: Bluemour Discussion Thread

This thread is for Carlton related rumours only.

No discussion about the rumour will take place in here. Instead we have a Bluemour Discussion thread.

Apologies for the late night post … been out for a very interesting dinner.
1. Wright is a weapon but he’s not perfect. Thinks little of the soft touch culture which has infected the club in recent years.
2. Has given players and coaches a clear direction. We are with you if you are with us.
3. Curnow is on the block. As are Motlop and McGovern. Has set Curnow management on fire and are filthy. Told them to stump up or FO.
4. Made a hard call on Doc and JSOS. Hasn’t made many happy but …
5. Expect further board change … They were clear on the players being the problem.

Few updates from last 24 hours and a couple of dinners:

Carlton have agreed terms with both Motlop and McGovern. That said, both have confirmed to club they are prepared to be part of trades (iwest only for Motlop ) and their contracts won’t be inked until said discussions have been fully explored.

Discussion with WCE are focussed on their expected compo pick(#2) in exchange for blues two compo picks and potentially player swap. WCE waiting still on AFL re concession request.

If curnow goes - Sydney at this stage more likely than GC but blues expect this may change if GC lose first final - position privately same as public - any trade must include A grade talent. Club confident of curnow commitment to program if trade cannot occur.

Wright believes club had too many yes men this year who were not prepared to challenge decisions. Wants greater debate across list management, coaching and footy ops. Davies mandate is to hold people accountable and be ruthless in pursuit of success and lift standards across the board.

Trading Martin pissed a few senior players off as they felt he was a critical cog in the forward line due to his running patterns and intensity to hold ball in.

From a PM ...

Apparently Josh Fraser is coming back as our VFL and Development Coach

You know the drill folks ... email. Source is a good one if true.

Carlton has contacted Gold Coast re Walter.

Gold Coast are keen on Charlie.

Walter is considered to be open to the possibility, but it would have to be a decent long term contract as he has value in the market due to potential, and other clubs are interested.

Walter is out of contract end of next year and if he doesn’t plan on re-signing, GC will look to trade him this year to give themselves the best chance of getting Curnow.

Another PM

  • Ken Hinkley to be at Carlton in some capacity soon trying to work out role. Butters likely to follow as he loves Ken. Watch this space
  • the Clubs stance on CC going is just talk. They also want him gone now, too disruptive and not committed
  • Buku coming McGovern going
  • Walsh has stood up in recent meeting and said if you don’t want to be here ****en leave and grow up and let us do what we want to do. Strong chance of replacing Cripps. He or Weitering, players to vote
  • President has made decision on Elijah. Some wanted to work with him but he’s had too many chances and decision is final.
  • SOS will bid on Harry Dean and trying to convince him to join st Kilda - club very dirty
  • Motlop 50/50. Stays if we can’t land Butters

Strong source re: Charlie

Purely in his court and up to his Management to do a deal. It is genuinally a 50/50 bet as to what will happen.

He wants out. Many reasons

Carlton will just sit back and wait for offers and if it suits we will do it. If not, he stays. It's that simple

Wright wants a group of 22-28 year olds that can improve our depth and competition for spots. Good handy players. Draft will be Dean, Ison unless we get a Top 3 pick. SOS bidding on Dean is BS

Happy to move on any "fringe" players we can. Names like McGovern, Motlop offered basic deals with incentives to see if serious. No more over paying without performance. So many balls in the air and we are speaking with many many players. Many not mentioned on here. Looking for a KPD like Phillips or Blight but very possible SSP options

Believe we have great youth and with good cheap additions SC will be great for next few years to add "stars" if needed. Power a loss

Possible New Asst coaches involved in finals. Will be announced after season over. Want people from successful programs. I haven't heard anything re Hinkley at all. I doubt it will happen. Butters will stay at Port

There is a major shift happening across the entire football department and finals in 26 is still very much the belief with a good off season. Whatever happens it will be a very different Blues side in 2026

Told reports from Innes and comments from Haynes about some player standards/attitudes for AFL football were damning.

PS Wright identified 3 major issues in Football Department

1. Consistent Standards needed to be Great club
2. Lack of balance in coaching skills and success
3. List imbalance. Too much youth plus top end. Nothing in the middle

Rumour Mill: A certain GC player originally from Moe was spotted down Moe FNC watching the clubs netball premiership win. A lovely young lady he was with throughout the night has blabbed next morning that he is planning on approaching GC requesting a trade to Carlton with Curnows management for a move back home to Victoria for family reasons.

Note: Bailey Humphrey from Moe

Don't assume that the "A" grader we are chasing will come from the club Charlie goes to. So many scenario's to play out and Cats wouldn't throw hat into ring unless they think they can believe they can get it done

This has been months in the planning and we need numerous picks for F/S, Academies and other traded players like Khamis, Cheeser, Reidy, Florent and a couple more.

Flanders is a no. We won't even offer him a contract

Deep down we know the Charlie deal could unlock numerous options for us. As an example could help us get Walker next year along with Top 3 pick this year and a couple of good role players. Not to mention room in SC to go after Free Agents over next few years

Told by so many people at weekend that Charlie has made it clear he doesn't want to go back.

Wright is looking at this as a 2 year list balancing exercise with most done this year. He rates our youth especially with Jagga, Dean, Ison and Walker being added. Middle tier is his biggets focus

Few updates
Gold coast interest shifted from Blues/Curnow to Demons and Trak, seems easier to get a deal done at this stage and discussions progressing re Jamarra and GC.

(3rd trade option for curnow right now)
Curnow management team working hard on cats and target is Holmes (diff management team) - curnow still likely to land at swans.

Interestingly - based on draft picks secured and compo……. West coast Pick 2 and even their future first in play.

Door is also slightly ajar on Butters depending upon picks blues secure.

Expect Blues to have 3 future firsts by end of trade period.

Apparently Leigh Adams will be appointed as an assistant coach, potentially as a midfield coach.
