Bob Brown resigns as Greens Leader - Milne elected leader

First Bob and Christine totally stuff Labor with the carbon tax, then Bob goes bushwalking when it gets too hot and Christine - who ran the negotiations that f*ucked Gillard and loves boasting about it - takes over. Very fitting.

And all those male voter breadwinners in Qld and NSW will have two women droning on at them about clear energy until the next election. Whata hoot.

btw - KHY and reds get rid of Christine after next election.

You'd have to think a Brown-less Greens would probably lose at least 2-3% of their vote?

If so, would it go back to the ALP?

Australian politics has lost one of it's few principled individuals.

I've been having some serious fun with the resident morons in the hun readers comments page.

They are a shocking advertisement for democracy.

How so?

I don't pretend to understand the parliamentary super rules.

there is word around that both camps are looking at backdating Super rules for people elected in the next swing.

So essentially by taking up your seat next time around you are voiding any super conditions and working under the new scheme. Not sure how valid it is, just word on the hill as it were.

if it does happen expect most pollys pre 1998 leave politicans to keep their generous pensions. The new ones are junk.

Wow - I guess you would be explaining how a party with such a small vote Australia wide has such a presence in Australian politics.

You having such a grasp of democracy and all that......

Agreed.

As for the HS readership, what else would you expect from the ferals? Class?

Okay, thanks. :)

LOL at Brown being principled.
When has he ever put his hand in his own pocket for anything?

Not if Qld is any example!

You know it was never a good look when Bob was towering over Julia, but at least he was a Man :D.

It's funny to watch the Liberal barrackers around here all predict the demise of the Greens. Keep up the good work folks :thumbsu:

Say what you like about Brown's ideas and policies, but he's principled.

He was clearly committed to his passions but was willing to bend his principles on occasion (where his passion was greatest).

For example in relation to the Franklin Dam he was in favour of the Commonwealth overriding the rights of the State Government. On issues such as Same-sex marriage and Euthanasia he was critical of the Commonwelath exerting power over Territory Government.

Have you forgotted, or are you unaware, that he re-mortgaged his house to the tune of $100,000 in order to contribute to a ransom that led to the release of Australian journalist Nigel Brennan and his Canadian colleague Amanda Lindhout who were being held hostage in Somalia.

Bob Brown (as depicted on the Andrew Bolt Blog)

There are a number of really bad planets lining up for Gillard, and here's another one.

Quite surprising news. Wonder if we'll ever know why now?

It's probably just a matter of him wanting to retire, he is 67. He's set up Milne as his replacement for a good 2-3 years now and probably feels that she's ready to take over the reins.

Will be interesting what effect it'll have on the Greens vote, Brown is fairly popular among their voter base. Milne is a moderate in the party, doubt she'll be much different to Brown though she obviously doesn't have as large a public profile.

Not sure who will replace Brown in the Senate, but Nick McKim has already ruled out a move to Canberra according to the ABC.

Watching the Contrarians, Peter van Onselen is clearly not a fan of the Greens and thinks there vote will drop off. He's being quite an a$$ about it actually.

The Lemming like qualities of their rationale is quite disturbing.
