It's funny that losing a required top 5~ player no longer hurts like it once did. It's just expected these days, and certainly not the shock it once was. In fact, if this triggers Band 1, I'll offer to help Brad move out.

There may be one additional factor that may or may come into play. But only If the AFLPA agree to a pay % decrease, on contracts across the board before the trade period,
10% decrease = 750k become 675k,
5% decrease = 750k become 712k,
The question would be does the new offer reduce by a % or does it stand as it was made after, in this scenario.
I am still saying that 700 to 750 is band 1, due to Brad age bonus and if he gets a 4-5 year contract which places him at the top of players in that group.
Edit, I am not saying he is getting 700K, I am using that as what he needs to get for the crows to recieve band 1,

If the difference is Brad costing their pick 15 or paying up another 50k and get to keep their first rounder then its pretty obvious what they would do.
Its also a good thing for us its 4 years plus a trigger for a 5th. Means its more likely higher money and not spread out over a guarenteed 5 years.

Do we even have the cap space to match? It's been reported a few times that our salary cap is pretty much maxed out.

Makes sense for both clubs to do something along these lines, I'm sure the Saints would prefer to cough up the extra $50-100k in salary than have to trade a draft pick or 2.

Good news. Frees up a spot in our midfield and gives us a chance for pick 2.
Brad was never an elite player. Good solid contributor who spent a lot of time on the sidelines. I wont miss the handballs into the deck tunnel balls or the scrubber kicks to nowhere.

It's easy when you win a spoon. We have no reason to be protective of our current group of mature agers. Crouch leaving doesn't cost us a chance at a flag, it only helps us fast track our rebuild.
I recall "I'll help him pack his bags and drive him to the airport" being said about Charlie Cameron a lot too.
Are we quite so happy with that one in retrospect?

It's more about where we're currently at, and what we get for him.
If we'd made the 8 I'd be livid we had effectively pushed him out, but pick 2 (assuming it happens) is a pretty massive carrot, and will make us a much better team in our rebuild

ROB is the only player on our list I'd consider untouchable. Maybe Doedee but his durability is a concern. Everyone else is for sale at the right price.
I was happy with pick 12. He was going to leave anyway and we would have been shafted if we had waited another year for him to come out of contract.
Obviously we need to get more out of Fogarty to make the trade more palatable though.
It's the latter part which concerns me. I agree he has the talent, aggression & tools. His set shot goal kicking accuracy is truly elite.
