We’re trusting Howe, Hall, Spicer and Lazzaro this week who have all shown they can’t lock down roles in the senior side for near on long enough.

We had a look at Perez and Mahony a few weeks back and now we’re looking at Spicer and Lazzaro.

Hall and Howe won’t be there next year but who else can we play this week.

With LDU injured, TT not ready, Curtis sick/out of sorts and Shiels concussed - there isn’t much else available.

Yeah the club has had to (and has to) have a look at these guys. Ideally see them play 3 non-sub games at AFL level. Obviously that's the case for the guys with contracts ending this year.

But even in Lazzaro's case (contracted until end '24), reckon the club needs to make a decision on him this year. Play him for 3 games, give him some midfield time, see how he goes. His VFL form warrants that. But if he can't step up then pay him out for next year (for what would be a low amount). It'd be no good for him (or the club) to hang around next year knowing he's just going to play VFL.

He's been playing as an inside mid in he VFL. The challenge for guys like him is that they then have to play 90% as a small forward in the seniors. It'll be interesting to see how many centre bounces he gets.

Hopefully he gets to a few centre bounces. No huge loss, over the longer term, if he's a bust, but there's upside if Laz shows something.
