Keen to see soft players out:

McKercher, Fisher, Stephens (even though he was pretty good)

For tough players

Wardlaw, Phillips, Bergman

Perhaps keep Stephens as sub.

Would like to see the back of Tucker too.

Zurhaar on thin ice.
Zurhaar having the nickname bull despite taking about one decent contested mark every three seasons is kid of funny.
He also wins **** all ball despite apparently being a bull.

I would drop him in a second. We lose nothing based on his output.

ins and outs matter little.

Pressure every possession the opposition have. No easy exits.

Lead at the ball carrier. Run hard to create the option and the space.

If we do not do those two things we lose.

I doesn’t matter who goes in or not.

The win or lose this as a collective.

Effort. Commitment. Belief.

I don't have a problem with McKercher getting dropped but I can see why you'd give him a chance to improve in the firsts before dropping him. Duursma worked hard to provide a marking outlet on the hbf and his transition work got us goals, one of which he kicked himself after winning the loose ball in defense and working up the field to get into position and have a shot for goal.

He was also prepared to chase in the forward line and in defense.
McKercher has been embarrassing for a while. He has had chances to harden up and play for the jumper and not run away from shadows and he hasn't taken them. People paying $$$ don't want to see players wearing the jumper who aren't willing to put their body on the line for the cause.

I took one of my sons to see the Captains Run this morning. We could only stay for about 40 minutes before I had to get back to work, so saw the "seconds" train, and then when the seniors were meant to run out we left. But judging by who trained with the seconds, I can tell that neither Phillips nor Scott will play as they were both training with the seconds.

Teakle wasn't, which was interesting. Could be a surprise in or an emergency at least.

Teakle only works as a sub. Xerri, Darling and Teakle is not what modern football is about particularly on a fast ground and we're already a b-grade side when it comes to leg speed and explosiveness/mobility.

I'm pretty sure Clarko isn't that dumb so I assume one of Xerri or Darling is out.

Before last week it was only a couple of things that stood out. He went hard at the ball when it was loose and was involved in our scoring chains regularly. Last week was pretty shithouse. If he plays and does that stuff again they'd want to drop him till he hardens up.

But...

If every campaigner tackles and we still can't break a line to get out of our d50 what's the point?

Tom Powell. Has been very ordinary except for the game against the Dees, should be held to the same standards as Phillips but we know he isn't.
His output is still significantly more than Phillips does and has produced this season. Suggesting to drop Powell for Phillips is as dumb as it comes. Phillips did nothing while he was in the team and was as ineffective as he has always been.

I do not want to see three talls either, however a plausible theory if he’s in the selection frame is that the coaches are concerned about Pittonet/de Koning match up vs Darling when Xerri rests.

Guessing they would want a better contest against a genuine ruck than what Darling could provide.

I don't know mate I've seen far more from FOS in a couple of weeks than I have from McKercher in over a year.
If I was picking one to play for the club for the next 10 years, I know who I'd be choosing.

It's up to Clarko and the club to let McKercher know that the standards he is setting from a physicality (and lets be honest) bravery standpoint are not fair to himself, his teammates or the fans. Whether that's by giving him a rocket and picking him or dropping him to make a point I guess that's the discussion we're having here.

Yeah mate I get it but we're already slow enough. Bringing in an extra tall for that reason doesn't do it for me.
Teakle is a crap ruckman as well so not sure it really helps us there either.

I don't think X has been 100% since the Melbourne game. Also when they threw Logue in the ruck it's apparent that they are not happy with the X/Darling set-up

Did you notice if PC was wearing a glove out there today?

Yeah FOS has something.

McKercher has a bit as well but he has a couple of obvious weaknesses he needs to work on. KIcking with his right foot, chasing and tackling and general toughness. But he provides speed which we give us an advantage over Carlton. We can be a very slow side. So hopefully the bolded bit is what we see and he responds.

Well, all I can say is he didn't train with the seconds.
Notable others who did were Ford, Maley, Harvey, Bergman, Goad, Payne, both Dawsons, Urquhart and as I mentioned Phillips and Scott.
