That's cool, take it up with Sando and the selection committee then.

Or I'll just discuss it here, on the discussion forum specifically for that purpose?

Maybe if you don't want people to discuss things, you should start a blog where you just post your opinions?

As opposed to writing off the whole team?

And it's not just the finals series, the guy has played **** all football just like Petrenko. We can't afford to have 2 underdone forwards.

Lol, and look at all the likes you got. You should consider a career as a priest or politician - they make decisive sounding statements that, when looked at critically, mean nothing, all the time.

Personnel hasn't been the problem at the Adelaide Football Club.

Do you guys think that a run-with player will go to Rich, or would you think that the coaching staff have enough faith in the mids to just go head to head?
Matty Wright will probably run with him but it won't be a Nick Lower 'glove' effort. Little bit worried about Raines' inclusion where Patty is concerned. I hope we pay a bit more attention to Bewick and Green as well; they killed us last time in transition.

Lower certainly did a number on Richie. Haven't seen him that restricted since his second year. With Cornelius out, Bewick will play a roaming high playing medium tall role, and green will sit at everybody's feet.

Raines will be pointed in Danger's direction and told to get acquainted again.

interesting comment

so why can't we win finals?

Well Sando better start winning games as you are frustrating me with these gold passes .
Stiffy at least was active in our forward line and offered something -- unlucky .
Martin got more touches and impact in short time on and when we were crap as well and has speed which we need.
Gold Passes
Petrenko -- What the hell . How many bad games are we going to give this guy . My rough estimate is last 3-5 minor plus all finals where offered nothing not even this supposed defensive pressure.
Cant get the ball --- Has no kicking skills or ball handling skills --- absolutely no goal sense or feed off hands etc ability .
Not competitive in air or gives a decent lead up field.
Callinan --- End of season was not quite as bad as had 1 decent game. But how did he force way into team with ave NAB and out for so long and no game or form leading up to.
There are others but ----- --- --------
Lynch and Tambling --Riley -- Lyon can keep playing well but unless someone breaks a leg or we are down 3----0 will they be looked at or Johnston who at the least knows how to lead and kick goals.

.

I know right. I can't believe he lost 1 game this year.....And after all of last years losses, he better get his shit together!

He has made zero impact since his arrival

Nice to have someone agree with me at last.. I've been saying this for at least the last 18 months - frequently to less than receptive audiences.

SP - when did you start posting intelligently? There are several of your posts this evening that found me in violent agreement with you. :thumbsu:
Slippery Pete you are dead to me.

A few things.
Jaensch has a huge opportunity in the next few rounds to firstly keep his spot in the side and also put his name forward as a long term player of the AFC (most likely as a HBF). He has weapons: acceleration and long kicking. I just hope that we can install an adequate defensive game into him as he could become a very good player, we saw glimpses in 2011 and hence he was rewarded with a contract extension. Over the preseason I thought he was gone, but he's proven me wrong so good on him :thumbsu:
Secondly, Callinan makes our forward line look better already. His kicking skills will help Walker get into the game more. Crouch is was a no brainer. Martin a little unlucky but there were better players available. Johncock had a few players playing very similar roles to him so I'm not surprised he was dropped but given his form I thought Petrenko might have been given the flick.

I think his kicking is over-rated; ask Danger how good it was in the last 2 minutes of the Prelim.

I hope to Christ the instruction to Jaensch is to run with the footy at every opportunity - if he can't do that, then he's too much of a one trick pony for my liking, and will fall out to bring Smith back in.

Our defence was poor against Essendon and I noted how Jaensch's body language after a lost contest , demonstrated to me that he is not at all confident in his game at half back. Hurry back Smith. Wonder will he come back thru SANFL (unlike Callinan) considering his injury?

Smith is someone who should slot back into the team. Not only do we need him badly, but he would have kept up a decent fitness base and has probably been running for the last 2 or so weeks.

Glenno are you a politician mate as you have turned a query about giving out gold passes into a supposed criticism of Sando
So do you think if we lose next 2 games that Pets and Nutta etc will continue to get games with no impact .
Simple statement same as used to make in old Aust. cricket teams that whilst winning under performers can continue to get games.
Fine to be critical , but use it to what been said not what you want it to be for your sarcasm posts.

Smith you think will come straight back in for Jaencsh.

I just want to see Tambling in...

You really can't get precious all of a sudden. You made a pretty silly statement, calling into question Sando's performance as a coach. You got called out, the use of sarcasm just made point more clearly.

People have been picking and choosing segments of a games or games to criticise players' selection, yet completely ignore what the players bring to the table. Let's just drop everyone that played badly in the final against Sydney............... I don't really recall any real standout performances.

The selection panel has to look at who is in form and performing now. I hardly think there are Gold Passes. Perhaps early in the season is the time to play Pets and Callinan? Let them show what they got and if they come up short I really don't think that they will be carried all year.

Just because the coach has a different approach than you would like doesn't mean its wrong. All the emotive language of "Gold Passes" "No impact" etc etc just smacks of a panic mentality. If the coaches are reactionary and panicky like some of the posters here then the team will always be on the back foot and never make real progress. What happened to a coach showing faith in the players and taking a positive approach to team selection. I'd rather our players be coached with a carrot approach than a stick approach. We all saw how the stick approach ended up in 2010 and 2011.

We lost a game..... We get over it and move on as a team. We lost againt Collingwood last year, it was unpleasant but we bounced back. We made it deeper into finals than anyone would have thought early in the season. But now this is a new season. We need to hold strong, blaming the whipping boys for the loss is not going to change things. We didn't lose because the whipping boys did badly. We lost because of poor teamwork. Then when things went bad, they just got worse. More than anything, the boys just have to play positive attacking football. A player change here and there is not going to change things in the big picture.

So do I.

Considering how much we heard about him all Summer, I'm surprised he isn't in the side already.

I'd put him in for Jaensch tomorrow - I think he could be quite an effective rebounding defender.

Really, I'd just like to see him given 3-4 games in whatever position suits him best, and find out once and for all whether he's worth persisting with.

I dont think those two players apply with that thinking. Now Tambling and Johnston are another matter.

Petrenko and Callinan were poor for a lot more than one game - their form leading up into the finals was a massive concern, and their form in the finals (forgetting the selection of a half-fit Petrenko) was nothing short of terrible.

Well, if Danger is elite as he and the whole football world thinks he is;) he'll play smarter football and atone for last week.

Dangerfield got 30 disposals (20 kicks) 5 marks and 10 I50s last year.

Oh.... Petz got 5 tackles and 5 I50s along with 14 disposals and Callinan got 4 goals 1, from 14 disposals and 6 marks.

I think it might be a horses for courses selection as suggested earlier. Maybe the match-ups work well and we just need to play 4 quarters of football.

So were a whole host of other players.

When we lost to Geelong at Geelong, North and Collingwood we had many players perform badly. Form leading into finals could be a fatigue thing as much as anything. Battered bodies wearing out towards the end of the season perhaps.

I'd suggest that we allow them to show some form in a new season before writing them off. I am sure that if they perform badly the will get a spell. But these 2 players in particular did well agains Brisbane last year in terms of out put. We lost because the team lacked intensity through out 4 quarters.

I think that a lack of intesity over the whole game is a bigger issue than the form of one or two players.

What about playing underdone players? Is that a concern?

Also Scott Stevens once kicked 6 I think in a final against Collingwood, should we pick him when we play Collingwood?

It's not a case of "he once ......", this was last year, the last time the two teams met.

Have you seen the players in training? Have you been there for the fitness work? Have you seen something this year in the lead up to this game that the coaching staff have not that warrants an almost all out attack on their selection? Are you better placed than the selection panel to make these decisions. ....... or is it that <insert favourite fringe player> missed out?

How many posters ever come back after slamming a selection issue and say "I was wrong"?

Should we lose, it won't be a selection issue that loses the game. It will be the broader issues we faced last year. The issues of finishing off a team once we get a lead and maintaining intestity over 4 quarters?
