IN: J. Carr, Webster
OUT: Solomon (susp), Headland (inj)

If MJ is rubbed out, then Warnock back in.

If Solomon is not suspended or Headland is not injured, then Cookie back out.

If Solomon/Johnson get off id take out Collard and bring in J. Carr.

Hopefully MJ gets off, id play him on Fraser when he goes forward. Been killing sides lately.

Looks like the conditions might suit Cookie Friday night.

Melbourne Forecast
Friday Few showers. Min 11 Max 16

Its an 8 point game. We need to beat Collingwood as a team we need to climb over. Carr for Collard. Maybe Cookie for Webster.

Collard as an emergency to travel. But I'd hate to have a fairly unfit 18 year old exposed to a hardened team on a rainy night at the MCG in such an important game.

Leave Cookie alone, what does he have to do to get respect ?.

Maybe a swap of Carr (jnr) for Soli is required.

Unfortunately, Cookie is only a fringe player these days. The only thing he offers the side is his commitment to the ball and the man and unfortunately that is not enough these days to get consistant AFL games, hence the match comittee drop him... especially when we have Soloman and usually Webster as defensive minded forwards.

And he can't play as a midfielder because he doesn't have the pace anymore and can't consistantly win the ball enough either (only had 15 or more possesions in 1 of his last 10 games).

We all love Cook's determination and work ethic but that is the reality of the situation.

Even when we are completely healthy though, I'm happy Cook playing the odd game at Subi because he fires the team up, fires the crowd up and usually fires himself up because he has not been selected the last game or two.

So Johnson cleared, Solomon cleared and Des likely to play :thumbsu:

Dockers hold hope for Headland

28th May 2007, 9:00 WST

Fremantle remain cautiously optimistic premiership midfielder Des Headland can overcome a thigh injury and take his place in Friday night’s clash with Collingwood at the MCG.

Headland left the ground early into the last quarter against St Kilda last Friday night, complaining of tightness in his right quadriceps after enjoying a welcome return to form after being pitchforked into the centre square.

Immediately after the match Dockers coach Chris Connolly rated the 26-year-old a 50-50 chance of being fit to play against the Magpies.

Yesterday Fremantle football operations manager Robert Shaw was more optimistic. “I think he’ll be all right, but we’re not quite sure just yet,” he said.

“We’re cautiously optimistic. He had a bit of tightness in the leg and after we kicked those two or three quick goals in the last quarter, the message came up to the box that Des was available if you need him.

“I think Chris made the right call and said ice him up and he’s come through OK over the weekend.”

Headland had tallied 19 possessions and kicked a goal in 76 minutes of playing time before leaving the ground, his willingness to run the lines an indication he was approaching his best form.

Fremantle will be boosted this week by the return from suspension of noted big-game performer Josh Carr.

So J. Carr for Cook or Collard? Anyone else a chance to be dropped?

Scotty-too-Hotty goes well on small forwards.

Agreed Rip.... Thornton is the perfect matchup for P Medhurst. We have McPharlin and Grover for Cloke and Rocca. We have Hayden for Davis or Didak. Can Doddy do the job on Didak?? Would be good if he can so we can play Hayden on Neon Leon.

Doddy took Didak last year. Got away from him a couple of times, but I reckon He is a bit better now than last year.

I'm not so sure about that. Ive seen him too many times get towelled up on smaller forwards and bigger forward, I do not really rate him.

Wish we suspended Jeffrey for 3 games instead of 6.

How good would it be to see him towel up the Pies like he did last season. He looked like kicking a goal every time the ball went forward last year.

Yeah, I'd like to see Duffield and Webster in again, but it is going to be hard top drop players.

J.Carr for Cook is the obvious change but after that?

out- campbell, collard
in - webster,carr
,collard made a servicable debut but someone has to make way for carr
campbell and webby seem to be competing for the same spot, give em a week at a time each to keep them in touch ,both quality players

Campbell needs to stay in the team at least until Pavlich returns to form or Murphy is demanding a spot. He gives Tarrant or Pavlich the freedom to move up the ground, while knowing that there is still someone there to kick to and allows Pav to sometimes manage a one-on-one contest, rather than a one-on-two or three. He also crashes the packs quite well - it's just a shame that we don't have a wizard wandering at the bottom to swoop on the loose ball. I don't think Webster is competing with Campbell, I'd say it's more players such as Cook and Solomon.

Agree about Campbell, he is providing a valuable service that needs to be recognised.

I agree that Cookie is a fringe player and may have limited talents, but it peeves me that some players get "gold card" treatment thus getting automatic selection every week, even though they play with 1% of Cookies guts. How do we fire up these slackers ?.

After all the talk there might only be the one change due to injury and return of the reliable Carr.
