Just seemed unusual for someone of his calibre to be left out 2 weeks running..but the defence worked well without him last week...he has been dropped before of course (and it might've been 2 weeks there from very vague memory?)..a 2 week 'rocket' to sort his head out for the Derby?

Simmo mentioned fitness issues along with form about Jetta as well.

He might not have done enough work during the break.

Didn't Ainsworth have a really good U18s carnival? Number one for clearances? And taken with Pick 32, so not exactly a top pick (and I get the arguments that quality was still on the table, but still).

Play him in the guts Simmo!

Excited to see the midfield mix with him in. We need someone who just plays the percentages ala Rowan Jones to offset the rest of the stars. If he can get clean clearances, feed our good ball users and block for them, he will have done his job.

A quicker Priddis is what this team needs. Ideally it’s someone who is pretty solid at kicking but it’s rare you get both. Look at all the clearance machines, who aren’t your out and out Fyfe or Dangerfield type stars (and they still can’t kick to save their life), around the league. Tom Mitchell, Lachie Neale etc aren’t the best kicks going around but get their job done.

Redden at his best would be the ideal player here but he seems a little split between inside and outside these days, and doesn’t always go in as hard as he should.

Only issues I have with Ainsworth are his size (doesn’t really look like someone who will be commanding around the contest) and the fact we’re probably likely to shove him on a flank somewhere for no reason. Needs to be in the middle for most of the day.

I think the midfield mix has definitely been a bit off (better signs against Sydney AFTER Shuey went down ffs), so hopefully an inside mid with a lot to prove shakes things up a bit.

Looking forward to seeing Ainsworth again. Hope he is given a good crack and not placed on the timber or on the HF pocket graveyard.
