Changes for Showdown

That's the point, we can't.
What do we do with Ollie when he's not being Ollie? Then what do we do with Ah Chee when Ollie is being Ollie? Ah Chee coming on as sub and helping out at 3/4 time is about right.
I dunno. That sounds like the same logic that said the Vics playing Dunstall and Lockett in the same team against SA in 1989 wouldn't work.

I think you just have to put your best players on the park if you're serious about winning. On present form, I'd say that Wines and Ah Chee are both comfortably in the best 18.

OUT:
Lobbe: Basically a liability at the moment
Stewart: Doesn't give enough for me, would rather Krak

IN:
Harvey: Don't know much about him but need another tall if we are going to ruck Ryder full time.
Krak: Has to come in, need his disposal. I still think we should throw him forward more often, hes been effective there.

SUB
Amon: Arch deserves a full game

Comments:
Jonas: If he comes back in without playing a solid month in the Magies and shows some form that warrants selection we are going to end up with a cultural issue at the club and the kids will want to leave. Clurey is a MUCH better selection at the moment and if Jonas is brought into the team on his reputation we have some serious issues. His year has been nothing but disgraceful and he needs to completely change his kicking action if he is going to play for the Power ever again.

Hammer: Needs to lift his work rate, just not good enough this year but I don't think we have anyone better to replace him. Not going to argue with you guys about his work rate.

You might not want to argue, but making statements like this when Hamish is having a year statistically equal to last year (which was considered his career year to date) is just ridiculous. Coupled with the fact he is top 3 in tackles (1 off the lead) i must ask, how much harder would you like the bloke to work?

a lot harder tbh.

Lol @ people wanting Harvey to come into the power as a ruck... He is only 196cm - he will be murdered as an AFL ruckman!!!

The main reason he was played in the ruck for the 2s (other than the fact there was no one else) was to get his tank up to somewhere near an AFL level!!

Harv is a full forward!!!

Harder than that... He is capable. He has his moments in bursts...a bit like the whole team atm.. If he can be consistent over the 4 quarters that would be ideal. Stats dont always tell the story and especially that of his opponent who at times has consistently got the better of him.

Also in terms of those stats they are averages of one being after 22 rounds and the other half a season.. Its a little skewed

Out lobbe
In carlile

Amon gets a chance to redeem. Otherwise krak
Nah can't play all of Jacko, Bobby, Hombschy, Clurey, O'Shizzy and Stewie (who imo is at his best in the backline) in the side

Harvey has not been dominating in the Maggies or even close to demanding an AFL callup.
Think he went thru school with Riley Knight who debuted on Saturday for our neighbours.
Maybe its the spur for him to really have a breakout game or 2/3/4 etc. coz Schulz is starting to worry me
in the near future let alone the medium future.
If its true there is a stall in contract negotiations then maybe the club feels the same way.
Come on Jay have a BIG Showdown

Yeah I know but I think you need to stop Betts from marking the ball as much as his ground level trickery. O'Shea spent some time on the Collingwood small forwards and they were pretty much a non-factor. Jonas has gone to Betts a few times and has done alright on him with his physicality. No guarantees about Jonas being back but O'Shea could do the same job. Hombsch, Trengove and Clurey go to Walker, Jenkins and Lynch.

And I like Impey being able to push up the ground a bit and give us some of the run we've lost with Polec and White being out.
Agree totally. O'Shea to Betts and Hombsch to Walker, gives us a better than even chance to win the game.

It's also more that Hamish hasn't stepped into the elite bracket statistically (>25 disposals per game, more goals etc) and he still has inconsistent form from week to week. He's probably not going to become a regular 30+ possession winner per week, but if he hits 23-24 possessions consistently, and uses the ball as well as he can, then he's still a real weapon.

lol why is the showdown on in the afternoon on Sunday? This fixturing isn't even a joke, it's so far out of whack it's unbelievable.

Guaranteed big crowd, big ratings probably Australia wide all in a graveyard time slot.
Nothing to do with next years TV deal and $'s

I'd hate to be Ken right now. Lobbe is struggling (so is Shultzy really) over the past month- but no-one in SANFL putting pressure on to take these spots. Butch/Harvey or Redden? Harvey had a minor groin injury (never played AFL yet). Butch can't kick straight. Redden not ready.

For this game against the Cows - its a risk- but why not drop Lobbe, use Paddy and Westy/Trengrove as chop ins- lots of second man ups at stoppages. And bring in another runner. Speed is important with a game plan like ours.... Bring back Krak!

One thing that really helped us last Showdown, was the utter mismatch of Ryder vs Jenkins as the chop out ruck battle.... I'm all for giving Sheriff Lobo a run in the twos but having him around might just be beneficial in the grand scheme of things this week.

Lobbe was a tackling machine last year, this year he looks like he's afraid to break a nail. Something is up with his fitness, he needs a rest. He's a liability if he can't take a mark or lay a tackle.
He is averaging 32 hitouts, 6 tackles, 3.6 1%ers. These are basically the same numbers as last year. He's actually doing way better when you consider he has to share the ruck with Ryder now.

He's never exactly been Shane Mumford with his tackling or Nic Nat with his tap work, so I'm not sure what this other level there is that he can go to.

Only difference this year is that every time he is in the ruck we're wishing it was Ryder instead, because he is more than just a break even ruck tagger/defensive ruck.

The thing Is Ryder carried the Essendon ruck duties in a career year in 2014, finished top 10 in the BnF as a number one ruck. I think Lobbe needs a spell and have full confidence Ryder can jump all over Jacobs, Trengrove as chop out ala Crows 2013 and Freo home 2014. Westy third man up decoy + midfield. Amon Arch full games. Krak sub.

Big problem with lobbe is he just does not take enough marks around the ground. Last year he had a bit more life in him, has not really looked good since coming back from injury. Maybe he's not a 100% but he does not look the same player this year. Does he play this week or not?
Not sure either way.
