Reckon we are still a good chance. At least our midfield will get a crack from the centre clearances and that is our strength. Dixon is an issue but he is not the same player he was a couple of years ago. As long as Martin can run the game out we get English - a 6’10 mobile full forward.

If English kicks more goals than Dixon we win.

"I live in hope." I used to have that as my sig. It took 39 years, but hope was fulfilled five years ago. Maybe again. Have faith! Do not give up!

When do we start getting concerned about Keaths soft tissue concerns? That’s 2 string issues in 7 weeks isn’t it?
I wouldn’t be worried yet because hamstrings have a high rate of re-occurrence. It’ll be a big offseason of strength & conditioning work though.

Keath is our irreplaceable, as we have no other KPD’s good enough to play on the best forward.

I think Bevo will play Cordy on Dixon as he never gives Ryan the best forward.

i would prefer Ryan on Dixon, play off him and then spoil. He could also exploit Dixon massively on kick ins and run off him like Keath did.

The glass broke when Keath was out because we can‘t afford clean centre clearances by Port as neither Cordy or Gardiner could compete with Dixon In these circumstance. This is why I think Martin plays. If we win the clearance we are still a chance.

I expect to lose now and we have an excuse but still hope our midfield can dominate, win the game and Keath and Weightman returns and we win the GF

I'm glad we have an enthusiastic kid by the name of Cody Weightman in the team. The boys taking the field will be all revved up off Cody's energy!

My view is that our defence (without Keath) is equal to the 2016 version. And there’s no reason we cannot win on Saturday, albeit the job is now harder.

We need a big game from Martin and our midfield. If they deliver, and we have team pressure and intensity around the ground m and take our chances in F50, we can win.

No one inside the tent will be writing us off. Have faith. Believe in our boys. We play our best, and we are a chance.

Funnily, I feel a lot less nervous now as there is no expectation to win. Very curious to see how much character this playing group has.

I agree with you, I think the whole reason Martin is in is because we can’t afford to loose the clearances. Not with the defence we have with Keath out. No more reading opposition taps, no more defensive setup in the centre square.

The tidal wave will crush all in its path on Saturday night. Yield to none!

Ok - here’s the positive take.

Early in the season we didn’t just win the midfield we absolutely dominated it. Then we lost Martin, Treloar and Dunkley and relied much much more on our backs to get us through games.

A fit Martin, at least halving the ruck for us, gives us every opportunity to dominate the centre clearances again. We then get 2 weeks to reset before the big one (if we get through)

Keath out sucks, but with English and Naughton forward we get the flexibility to move Shache back if we need to. We still have Bailey Dale, Caleb and Williams to do that voodoo that they do-do. Old man Wood ain’t the same player he was but he can still intercept on his day and he can surely taste another medallion.

I’d love to see Keath out there but with Bont pulling up the way he seems to be we are at least 50:50 in this one.

Just need a couple of lucky umpire decisions to go our way (that’s for the Saints lurkers 👀. Welcome gentlemen 😎👍)

Well that hurts, but let's look to the positives

Bont wasn't injured which is massive. There is no one more capable of turning this game around when it matters the most. If anything Martin, if he's fully fit, could be a more important player than Keath. This game will come down to the midfield. Port play a stoppage game and rely on winning contested possessions. We haven't had our best ruck hitting to our complete midfield for a long time and if it goes anything like the first 6 weeks of the year it could be massive.

Dixon is of course a danger. But the most goals he's kicked this year in one game is 4. If you assume he does that again that's a managable amount. Cordy is probably well suited to Marshall and the rest of our defenders are in brilliant form. If we can stop Lycett getting clean taps and pile on pressure their inside 50s won't be to advantage.

All we need is a big game from a forward offensively, and another to pick up the slack defensively. Smith proved a danger in the last quarter and has gotten better every week. Naughton is ready to take a game by the throat. English can spend time forward and stretch their defenders. And that will bring more opportunity for Schache and there's no one I'd rather with a set shot.

No doubt this became a serious challenge but these players thrive off that.

Positive news on Bont looks like he's moving fine. Will be able to resume his normal midfield role. Hopefully Bailey Smith brings his new found forward touch into this week as well.

Hoping for a big game from Treloar... Could be a game winner.

As long as Jackson Macrae's breath animates his spirit I have every hope

Keath out is a huge blow.

With Martin, Cordy, Schache, English, Naughton and maybe Young (sub) in the side there is some flexibility to make things happen.

The start is important the longer we are in it the more likely we will win it IMO.

Dig deep fellas. We're going to have to back multiple money trucks up to AFLHouse this week.
