Port have the best forward half smalls/mediums in the comp:

Gray
Butters
Rozee
Duursma
Fantasia
Motlop

I actually think we’re in decent shape to handle them with Caleb, dale, Williams, Duryea and wood.

Aliir will go to Vandermeer right?

I agree and 2021 Dixon is not the same Goliath who’s gotten a hold of us in the past.

Boak and Allir are the two we will struggle with.

Can we beat these smug campaigners. They aren't that good but they're acting like assholes
Welcome to dealing with the Port Adelaide football club. Try putting up with it for 25 years (or year 100000000000000 of their supposed history). Hope you guys smash them this week…or better still a one point win after the siren 😂😂

I think they will win but I'm not sure why they are so smug.

They'll probably lose the grand final to whoever wins the other game

By the time gameday arrives the team would have been in no COVID hotspots for 14 days. This should mean no quarantine restrictions on the Saturday in Adelaide. However I bet the SA government will ensure we are confine to 3 by 3 cells all day on Saturday without any freedoms. Will be interesting to see what if any restrictions the team has to comply with
It's incredible what our team have had to put up with yet are still managing to win. Flying from state to state, all with different conditions, restricted on training, away from their homes and families for long stretches. We'll fly in from Perth probs on Friday, may receive a grace-and-favour hour to train, then again confined to rooms until game time. You wouldn't blame them for being mentally and physically exhausted. Probably what Port are counting on, as they relax on their own couches for a couple of weeks. But they'll find out...

Interestingly we were staying with a city hotel last night, not a large complex. Keen to know if we will now be moving to a resort or staying at the hotel all week.
It will be a resort as Bevo said they'd be able to move around a lot more than where they were in Brisbane. They stayed in a resort the last 2 times they went to WA.

The AFL will likely use the 2 Collingwood players earlier in the year as a precedent where they were subbed off for head knocks and passed all tests because it wasn't a real concussion and they weren't allowed to play the next week still
I thought I heard they reported it as a knock to the face, not the head. Semantics I know, but it might work.

Any word on who has flown across to Perth from Tasmania? Is the whole team going across?
Pretty sure they'd all be going, then those not selected would either stay on (when we win on Saturday and the team heads back to Perth) or go home (in the remote offchance we lose ;) )

He doesn't have to be. All he needs to do is crash packs and get the ball to ground.

Something he has been doing very well all year.

Dunks will need to sit on Boak. We'll need to keep Aliir accountable with one of Schache or English. Not sure what we're doing with the ruck. I'd probably turf Young at this point and bring in another tall like a JUH to sit forward and english more in the ruck with Schache chop outs.
Might send Hannan after Aliir like we did with May.

I remember Cordy doing a good job on McGovern and Barrass in the 2016 elimination final too, but I don’t think he’ll be getting a sniff.

I'd have Dunks run with Wines instead and try and match his big body. Wines is getting a lot more uncontested ball this year so we'll need to watch him running forward. Drew is undoubtedly going to sit on Libba, so I'd put a huge amount of pressure on Libba to go and sit on Boak and try to create a 2 v 1 around stoppages. It'll be big ask but one he'll be up to.

Ruck is a dilemma

Options are:

1. Status quo Young and English
2. Sweet replaces Young or Martin but believe Martin is not in the equation.
3. English with support from Schache.
4. English and Schache share but I would contemplate Gardner taking centre bounce instead of Schache. Gards is great and punching and has a very good leap. Schache and Gardy then swap and Schache rucks around the ground. Schache is pretty bad at the centre bounce but less poor around the ground and could burn the other ruck around the ground and play as a big mid.

Western Bulldogs small forward Cody Weightman will be closely monitored by medical staff over coming days, with the club yet to officially rule him out of a preliminary final.
Weightman suffered a head knock after running into Brisbane’s Marcus Adams on Saturday night and took no further part in the game.
Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge said post-match that “it’s likely that he probably won’t be available”, but did not confirm whether Weightman had been officially concussed.
Weightman appeared energetic and in good spirits on the bench during the second half of the game.

If Weightman is found to have been concussed in the incident, he would be unable to take part in the preliminary final against Port Adelaide under the AFL’s strict concussion protocols.
Players who are subbed out of a match with concussion are forced to spend a minimum of 12 days on the sidelines.
The Bulldogs flew from Brisbane to Perth on Sunday to set up camp before a trip to Adelaide later in the week ahead of their clash at Adelaide Oval.
Captain Marcus Bontempelli was to have scans on his knee after arrival in Perth after finishing Saturday night’s match on ice.
“He just copped a knock to the back of his knee so it’s difficult to know the extent of any injury,” Beveridge said after the game.
“He’s obviously a little bit sore. We’ll let a little bit of time before we assess it and he’ll probably get a scan once we get to Perth and see if there’s any damage in there.”

I love it when the AFL cites precedents as if they follow precedents every time and never bend their own rules 😂

Geez the carry on with the umpiring is laughable. Who would have thought that a team with a gun midfield gets more free kicks?!

Port supporters already making excuses. Genuinely hope you guys get up this weekend.
If we don't you know it will be "Port brave against 25 men"

Despite Port having the rub of the green twice this year against us. Especially that last game which was rubbish

Not sure if anyone heard Sam Edmund on SEN this morning? He said something along the lines that in the official statement to the AFL, our doc removed head knock as being the official reason behind subbing Weightman out. The doggies also refusing to disclose if a concussion test was performed. Sounds to me like the club are trying to get him to play this week. If a concussion test wasn't performed, there is no reason the AFL could refuse him. If a concussion test was performed, there is precedent from earlier in the year where they denied Collingwood players from playing even though they passed the test.

Weightman should not play. The rule is exploitable and pretty dumb though.

Well the AFL should have stipulated at the start that any player injury subbed out cannot play for 10 days. But they didn’t (dont know why). This left the door open for clubs to exploit the rule and allow players to play next the week.

The whole sub rule thing was hurriedly formulated after a suggestion by Clarkson in 1 week. No body was consulted. Bevo pointed all this out at the start of season.

They will probably now change the rule retrospectively, leaving themselves open to challenge. Have no sympathy for them at all.
