When looking at my tip for this game, it purely came down to the home ground advantage...therefore I think Essendon will win by 19 points.

Young, inconsistent sides usually struggle in important games away from home.

Essendon have 3 very capable talls in hooker, Jones and two meter Peter.

all big units and pretty mobile.
couple that with Cox on a wing and if the mids don’t extract the digit we could be in for a VERY long day
I'd say that Jones is a level below Lobb, maybe two. Wright probably equal. Pressure upfield and we'll be fine. Hooker will kick a couple though. Dude is a tank when wresting.

Our defense is a shambles, Ryan out the straw that broke the camels back, and we dont win shootouts so not sure where wins will come form at the moment.
Ryan's the most crucial out we could have at the moment. He's so good at marshalling that defence. The longer he's out however, gives someone else more of a chance to grow into that role, if only to a degree.

We'll win. I can see why everyone's confidence is shaken but I reckon were better than Essendon.
Lobb played his best ever game for us against them last year, hopefully his second half against Brisbane and memory of that game can get him dominating. Tucker third game back, cobwebs should be blown out by now. And Switta is important.
We'll win
I rewatched that game the other night. How good was Lobb? If he brings some of that and Darcy stays in form I'd be very very happy. That was a horrible game by big Darcy - shows how far he has come.

Tucker was good as well but got left out to dry by his teammates when he was breaking lines with no-one leading up at him. He and Fyfe got twisted in circles at the end trying to do too much as well.

Essendon is unlucky not to have another 4 wins on the board.

We on the other hand were never in our 4 losses.

Stringer is a big out as he always bobs up and kicks his 2 or 3 against us. In saying that, I'm very concerned about this game and how we can negate their running/attacking style.

They do have a leaky defence, but don't think we can outscore them on their home deck. I'll stick with bombers by 57.

The bombers have had some bad losses...
- a 10 goal thrashing by Brisbane
- lost to the Hawks
- a 10 goal thrashing by port

Their wins aren't that impressive
- smashed st Kilda who have been abysmal without Ryder
- beat Collingwood

Their close losses:
- giants (we smashed em)
- Carlton
- Sydney

Based on this form I don't think essendon have this in the bag at all. Should be a 50/50 game and hoping dockers nab it!

We are not a team that can impose anything on a game , totally at the mercy of our opponents efforts

Bombers show up with anything resembling ’good team ‘ levels of pressure and we will fold up as usual if not we have 3/4 of a team of superb front runners and will have a good win

As much as it hurts to admit, I tend to agree with this.

In the relationship that is the weekly match up with our opponents, we tend to be the tunnel, not the train.

Alright, so Essendon's big losses have corresponded with powerful midfields - their big win was when dominating the St Kilda midfield without their ruckmen.

There's the key as always. Darcy wins the ruck battle, our mids win the ground ball battle.

Stick a rocket up them about winning hard ball gets.

Agree. Against Carlton the midfield became limp against the physicality of Cripps. West Coast even worst. Would love to see ours to actually come out to play when it’s backs against the wall scenario. We just don’t have a very scrappy workmanlike midfield. It’s all elite runners with smarts. Freo needs a player like Lyons doing the dirty work. Desperately miss those 1%ers.

I reckon Pearce might get picked. It’s not ideal but our defense is horrifically under manned currently and he is class back there. Think I would do it actually
