If calling someone a “pile of sticks” gets you 4-6 weeks, then the indigenous players of the 80’s and early 90’s should start a class action and send the joint broke.

Also, out: Scott.

They have and it is continuing

And secondly so it should

If we’re paying them all $500k base by 2028 then grow up and start acting like professionals

Makes no difference watsover considering the Outs
Our midfield(our 1 wood) had about 800 disposals last week against an average oppo.

They need to be on their game this week and put Adelaide's mids away. There is simply no excuse for our midfield to roll over.

Yes, our backs may get dusted and our forwards might not kick a winning score, but the midfield will be a massive catalyst to those outcomes. If they play well again, we should be in the game.

I can see how LDU, Sheezel, Parker, Wardlaw could come out on top against Dawson, Soligo, Berry and Peatling.

I can see how Curtis, Sheezel and our smalls could notch up a half respectable score, thus mitigating the influence of Worrell and Keane.

I just can't see an answer to the Thilthorpe, Walker + Fogarty quandary. Logue would have to turn into Harris Andrews.
Dawson has to play imo. Bloody Lynch was too much for Pink, Thilthorpe will monster him. He may do the same to Dawson, but he's exactly the sort he needs to learn to play on. Pink might be stiff, but id bring in Dawson for him.

I think we're a sneaky chance if the boys are up to the challenge rather than checking out early.

I want to believe that we will be closer to our round 3 outing.

While the margin was what it was it was more reflective of being opened up in the last quarter with X having been injured IIRC.

Not all losses are equal and a loss like round 3 would be much more palatable than a loss like vs Hawthorn. Where we played like we were never in it at all, we may as well have forfeit given the absolute lack of endeavour shown.

I want them to show me that they view every game as meaning something. Last year we were completely broken after the West Coast loss.

This year we are not in the same head space and they need to show that.
If I was ever employed by the club I would wind up locked up inside a jail cell for a long time for kidnapping the families of the playing group and not promising their release until the players got their act together and won back to back games.

Sadly enough, it seems this style of motivation would actually produce results from this group of players, but it’s painfully and clearly and obviously not sustainable lol

I still hold out hope that if they win this game this week and show some fight and heart - it may just may salvage the season and EVEN potentially lure a free agent or two.
Not guns or elite talent and whatnot, but it would make a few wake up and think - playing with X, Harry, George, LDU, Curtis - hrmm maybe there is something there.

I would be going all out this Saturday as if we’re fighting Adelaide for the minor premiership.

I have zero doubt that on here during the off season a question of what is a pass mark?

Whatever answer people land on , the right answer will include back to back games.

There are simply so many wrongs that need to start being righted.

A victory this week and I’d likely go full Nuffie.

May even buy Syd tickets on the back of it.

My opinion is we do not have the mentality to win this game.

We probably don't have the players to win the game. Basically cos they are still young and need more development and match fitness/physical maturity.

There were plenty of times this year when good teams took it to us and we responded then got the game back on level pegging only to run out of legs late in the game. That shows we are developing the mentality to stay in games. There was one game where we lost composure while leading well - against Carlton. Whereas last year it happened multiple times.

"It's just a different time". Of course it is. It's a time when we've learnt that role models using slurs means kids use slurs, and those slurs are used to bully and harass someone based on something they can't change in a world where bullies have 24/7 access to victims via the internet. Something that consistently leads to kids killing themselves, developing extreme anxieties, or living a lesser life.

The gay community spend their lives being attacked by major religions and have to watch as bigots get air time for simply hating how they were born. Avoiding it is impossible to do in an internet age. It's relentless. Why do you think there are no openly gay AFL players? Why do you think this other player doesn't want to be involved?

Action needs to be taken because it's about sending a message that denigrating someone based on an inescapable aspect of themselves is not acceptable. If that means an AFL player (who should know better) misses a grand final or someone has to feel a little uncomfortable because they're "not sure what they can and can't say these days" just so one less kid kills themselves then so be it.
Slurs said between AFL players that no one else can hear are causing teenagers to kill themselves.

l'm hoping that the Crows decide to play safe and rest Tilthorpe otherwise he could end up with Buddy figures of 13 or more.
Rankine and Tilthorpe out would be a blessing for us and hopefully we drop Scott and with Zurhaar out we bring in Hardeman if he is ok and Phillips for a final game.

bobby dazler back in the frame

Noteable that they basically listed every player possible in that article, with one glaring omission; Zane Duursma.

Fairly straight obvious changes this week I would have thought.

Missing Larkey, Zurhaar, Archer and Goater so still a decent side but we’re missing some firepower up front.
Rankine out is a massive bonus.

Slurs the same people would never say in any other context are suddenly tip of the tongue on a footy field? Teenagers and adults are negatively affected by slurs like this that people say in their lives, through media and yes in sport. The fact so many football supporters don’t think it’s an issue is exactly why it’s still an issue.

I don’t like the AFL’s hypocrisy, but I’d rather they did something than nothing.

6 wins and a percentage above 80 was the general consensus.
Were currently on 5 and a half and a percentage above 75.

So theres small improvement but not enough to say its been an acceptable season by any standard.

Right now, optics are everything and beating up on the Tigers who were meant to be on a level around us and then taking it to the top of the ladder Adelaide would be a statement. 100% it would be.

It would signal the true arrival of LDU, Sheezel, Wardlaw, Curtis, X etc and that in 2026 we mean business.
Its the optics of it all. It would make opposition players and the football world sit back and take notice. Maybe North is on the way up?
Maybe just maybe Clarko has got them going.

And then watch that momentum swell.

But thats the if. We havn't won back to back games since round 1 and 2 2023.
Imagine the first 3 years are bookended by back to back wins and round 24, 2025 signalled the end of our rebuild years.

It may not be our biggest game in years but right now its one of the most important in terms of our future.
Like you OF, I worry about the amount of bath water these campaigners have swallowed since Sunday's win. Its not enough.

Give the club a chance to sell itself in the offseason you campaigners and go all out. ffs go all out

In theory, 'no tomorrow' rules should apply.

Port Adelaide crippled us out of the top 4 in a last round dead rubber. Am inexperienced GWS refused to play dead and hand us % in a last round dead rubber.

We have a free ticket to throw everything at them.

Will we?

Yep

We actually do have something to play for in moving our pick up a spot from 3 to 4 for Richmond.
Also finishing above Essendon too.

And I think Adelaide would rather face the Suns in a home final than the Pies.

Even if the win gifts Geelong the minor premiership, **** it. Lets just do it

Mindful of our often poor performances after a win, but:-

All of this noise around Rankin and losing him to suspension, plus the absolute focus on their throwing from last week hopefully puts them off their game a bit.

Doesn't take much.
Maybe so… unless they follow the 2018 WC example. “Us against the world” really works in knockout situations. Nicks’ job will be to try and hold them back…

This was 100% on my list and I was frustrated we couldn't manage it in the first 10 games when we had a few chances. We need to throw everything at Adelaide.
