I'm starting to get really concerned over some of the messaging coming out of the club and they now think after a good start we are in with a 'sniff' for the finals. Which leads to, Nicks saying things like 'continuity'..... No Matthew, we are in a rebuilding season ffs, if there was ever a period to NOT be continuing to go in unchanged, it's literally now.....

There is absolutely no advantage of us finishing 8-11th this year, I would rather us finish bottom with an aggressive selection policy and get a top tier pick.

Jokes about our defense aside, Fremantle are facing the same issue with their defence against our forward line
Probably think we only have 2 forwards capable of being multiple goal kickers and they’ll play permanent double team on Tex with Ryan and Logue.

Frampton and Cox to have their own battle for mediocrity.

What changes did people want this week? Frampton is the one I wanted out and another poor game tomorrow after Berg’s game will see him out. Kelly? Has been mostly decent this year and seems highly rated internally; heck, Worrell was raving about him last year as a mentor.

What other changes need to be made? Rowe is doing just enough, but Newchurch keeps his sanfl form up and that change will happen soon enough. I think Hamill could do with a rest soon, seems to be getting banged up a lot. As a first year mid playing a highly contested role, Berry will likely be managed soon and Pedlar will get a debut.

Was really concerning during Nicks mid week presser when he said he would prefer to go in unchanged every week if he could for the sake of continuity. That’s not a mindset you should have for a club in our position.
It’s actually really disappointing. Hately should be in. Himmelberg should be in next week.

Other than Frampton (which I think happens next week), what other changes would you make? Kelly? We are still playing a very inexperienced side.

Lynch nor Frampton should be in the side ahead of almost any younger player on the list. They offer very little (Lynch) and in Framptons case, well the less said the better.

McLeod was just better than almost all other players in the league. Was absolutely robbed of a Brownlow in 2001 when he got no votes in a 37 possession game in Rd 22 and lost by 2 votes. Reckon he only got 1 for a 35 possession game a couple of rounds earlier vs North too. Even Aker admitted it.

Wasn't the game against North where he lost it, considering Roo kicked 5 goals along with 35 possessions (i'm assuming he was BOG), but you are absolutely right, he should've got votes for that 37 possession game against Fremantle, albeit we lost which doesn't always help with the vote system...

I'm concerned about us playing five players under an injury cloud. It was the perfect opportunity to rest some of these players.

I would have looked to replace Frampton because he sucks.

I would have increased our height in defense.

I would have added Hately to the midfield given Fremantle's inside brigade

Frampton.

RT should be playing instead of him.

Not fussed about the rest. Lynch looked injured last week, concerned he is still carrying that.

Tex is hardly playing under an injury cloud, seems like normal management of a senior player. Smith has been one of our most important players this year and missing training sessions is hardly cause for concern. Lynch is the only one I agree on, shouldn’t have played last week and Kelly shouldn’t play tomorrow off a calf.

How would you have increased the height in defence?

Out: Frampton, Lynch (injured), Kelly (injured), McAdam (injured/rested)

In: Thilthorpe, Hately, Murray, Worrell

Shift some players up the field
McAdam’s last quarter would suggest that injury is very minor. Agree with the rest and I keep my fingers crossed Murray plays. Berg needs to come in next week unless Frampton has a career best game tomorrow.

So we left two players out of our lineup in the SANFL who needed game time to build into their season (especially Hately), only to leave them out of the AFL lineup?

There better be at least one failed medical test because that is some seriously dumb decisions.

Not sure, it’s a good question, but our midfield looked really vulnerable last week without Sloane and Hately is a similar replacement. Just would’ve found room.
I thought Laird and Keays worked well with the likes of Schoenberg, I just don’t think it’s a pressing area of the ground that requires changes. I think Berry will require management soon and that’s when Hately will get his chance.

Well I’m guessing at least one would’ve played sanfl, but what else can we do with the stupid rule imposed on us?
