Cox forward? I know that it might be the best option.
But the guy is in the middle of developing into a seriously elite long term defender. His nous, movement and reading of the play is seriously impressive.
For a short term fix, I don't think that's worth messing with. I don't want his progress interrupted. He's our stand out defender after the first two scratchies.
Find another option, whatever it is!
Yes but we don't need 3 tall defenders against the Demons. If anything we got caught out in space against the Eagles who only had Allen & Vardy!

Richmond for example would rip us apart with that much height in our backline.

You mean the same coach who debuted Nyhuis as a forward?

Who debuted Brennan Cox as a forward?

Who played Griffin Logue and Alex Pearce up front?

Who played Taberner as a key back?

Yeah that guy.

He never really swung an established back fwd...maybe johnson once or twice. Cox, Nyhuis and Logue were literally on debut put fwd. Especially Cox, Ross had no intentions playing him in the position of chb he was drafted as. I remember Pearce played one game fwd and Tabs played a derby back to plug a hole through injury. His coaching was very conservative over the 8 years.

Agreed.

Pearce and Cox can take the two tallest defenders. Ryan and Hughes play on the mobile fwds/medium talls and Conca, Young & hopefully wilson as the other two defenders.

Hamling or Chapman should be used Fwd until Treacy gets some games at Peel or Darcy is ready to plug a hole up front.

Henry Treacy Switta
Shultz Taberner Coyler

that's all the forwards left I think?
see if you can squeeze Mundy and Fyfe in. With Caleb and Cerra back and lowest rotations in years (ever?) I expect these two to spend a lot of time in the forward line.

Pearce is an intriguing option. Ruck height and has played forward, alleviates our glut of KPD slightly. Kenyan did say he'd end up a forward too. Just worry about durability and kicking accuracy. He's got everything else.

I remember Brennan Cox's kicking for goal causing anguish back when he was playing forward. He would kick some absolute beauties from the angles but miss the easy ones.

My rd 1 side before the injuries and I left out Pearce because I didn’t think he would be ready.

Conca Hamling Ryan
Wilson Cox Young
Aish Fyfe Acers
Walters Tabs Mundy
Henry Lobb Schultz

Darcy Brayshaw Cerra

Serong Tucker Hughes Chapman

My new rd 1 side

Conca Hamling Ryan
Wilson Cox Young
Aish Fyfe Acers
Coyler Tabs Mundy
Henry Treacy Schultz

Meek Brayshaw Cerra

Serong Tucker Hughes Pearce

Darcy to take Treacy spot if fit and to work in tandem with Meek in the ruck , the injuries suck but still a pretty good side .

Yeah it is something to take into consideration
I am going to step in for my buddy here. His goal kicking in his first year (2017) was atrocious. In 2018 and 2019 it was okay. We know now he is a great field kick, so any problems are between the ears.

I am comfortable with any of the following;

1. Brennan forward - he is a clever, creative player, with some unusual traits, and could be a difficult match up. Given he has been training and playing back, and playing really well, I get the alternate views. IMHO we would be silly not to try him forward at some point, but maybe the timing isn't right.

2. Hamling forward - he apparently wanted to try it a couple of years ago and he played forward as a youngster (I think). I don't think he is as bad a kick as people make out. Maybe worth a try.

3. Meek and Darcy in the same team. Lobb does not play forward overly well, contested marking is his big strength. Meek is athletic, seems quick and clever with his hands and is competitive around stoppages when the ball hits the ground. Worth a try as well.

This is the best I can muster.

Ryan Hamling Hughes
Wilson Pearce Young
Acres Fyfe Aish
Schultz Cox Cerra
Mundy Tabs Switta

Meek Brayshaw Serong

Tucker Henry Treacy Conca
Emerg. Chapman, Colyer,

If Darcy is fit to play, he would take Treacys spot on the bench, but I’d give Meek first crack & let the heat go out of the game & introduce Darcy mid 1st quarter.

The fact they’ve mentioned Pearce playing forward, I think it will be Cox, but one of those 3 has to go forward.

Also Conca would come onto the field & run with Petracca, I think the run with role is his best role.

It’s also likely that Colyer will come in at the expense of Henry or Switta. I’d like to see Henry persevered with, because he will get better with every game.
