I don't think we will play a tall defender forward just because they are tall.

We will go with the guys we think are the best 6/7 forwards and if that means we are undersized, then so be it.

Like last year where we asked Ryan to play as an undersized FB because he was the best available defender regardless of height.

This young tall forward looks promising.

Charlie Curnow in his second year: 20 goals in 21 games.
Brennan Cox in his second year: 18 goals in 16 games.

Cox could be the best key forward on the list.

Logue would walk into the B22 of every team in the league and needs to play in R1 if fit. If we were bringing Logue into the side and moving Cox forward it may not weaken us too much.
Love Coxys ball use in the back half though.

If Chapman plays, which I doubt, that would make sense to play Hamlng forward.
Lever is one of those defenders Mayne in his pomp would have been playing on, and I can see Hamlng forward doing what Mayne used to do.
But I don't think it will happen as I don't think Chapman will play and I reckon we'll play all of Hamlng, Pearce and Cox back with Cox pinchitting as the second ruck. I'm not saying that is ideal but I think that's what will happen.
During Melbourne’s scratchie, when the second ruck was on, Gawn rested forward. That is one of the problems with using a tall defender as second ruck.

Fingers crossed it’s a bit wet in melb... might level the playing field a little, counter the height loss

On the flip side, we have speed, so if dry - run forest run!!

Sean Darcy is the main ruck when fit.

Meek has Been on the list in the 2018-2020 seasons and remarkably hasnt played a dockers game. He has good form coming in and is certain to Debut in round 1.

Cox is only 193 cm but isnt too bad pinch hitting at CHF.
Cox is 195cm, 193 was his rookie year measurement.

It would strengthen us. Cox is by far the best tall forward option after Tabs.

Cox needs to play forward for the time being, we have plenty to cover down back.

I'd also play Treacy, we're screaming out for a KPF and we just drafted one, surely we're looking to fast-track him in any case.

Ryan Hamling Hughes
Young Pearce Wilson
Aish Cerra Fred
Treacy Tabs Mundy
Shultz Cox Henry

Meek Fyfe Brayshaw

Serong Tucker Acres Conca

Hamling and Pearce turn it over too much out of the backline.

Schultz Darcy Fyfe
Aish Taberner Frederick
Wilson Mundy Cerra
Chapman Cox Young
Hughes A.Pearce Ryan
Meek Brayshaw Serong

Interchange: Hamling Swita Acres Tucker

If no Darcy —> Treacey

I like where you are heading with this, and think we can potentially stretch their backline.

Lots of posters suggesting Cox shouldn’t be moved but if it gives us the best chance of winning the game I disagree. Unless Logue comes back, and with Lobb gone for half the season, we need a longer term solution and to me your set up, with Mundy’s position being able to accommodate other midfielders rolling through a hives that.

Whatever our setup turns out to be, I just hope the coaching group are looking at it as an opportunity and not a mortal wounding of our season's chances.

Similarly to last year when our tall backs went down early, we have no idea what may be possible as our list is young, talented and full of potential and who knows what might eventuate with these early season setbacks.

They say necessity is the mother of all invention and I'm hopeful that our coaching group has got the nous and the football intellect to craft a team structure that can play finals, regardless of losing Lobb/Walters etc.

Tall defenders sometimes just need to be tall defenders, we have the likes of Wilson and Young to be distributors

Cox forward makes even more sense when taking Logue returning into account, then the backline becomes

Ryan Hamling Logue
Young Pearce Wilson

That's a great defense as it stands and lets a talanted KPP move into our area of most dire need

Sturt Tabs Mundy/Fyfe ect
Shultz/Switta Cox Walters

That FWD line actually doesn't look the worst

Steven May in some minor doubt with concussion under the new protocols. I think he'll play but it wouldn't half solve our tall forward problem if he doesn't

I can’t see Logue being a KPP at either end regardless of his height. He moves more like a mid/utility for mine. Which isn’t a bad thing.
