Deadset one of the dumbest selection moves I've seen in quite some time.

JLO and co. are panicking.

Brodie is no the issue.

We've just accentuated a clear deficiency.

Our centre clearance work is a disaster - the solution, drop our best centre clearance player from 2022.

Unbelievably stupid.

Good changes, although clearances are still a massive concern.

Carrying two ~70% TOG midfielders was completely unsustainable. JOM probably made the decision easier with his late cameo last week.

Interesting to see how Brodie responds and whether he can add any other strings to his bow given the tank is still an issue.

Don't agree. Brodie is hard done by for sure, but dropping him is not 'unbelievable stupid'. It makes sense to me. I think they're going to play Jackson as a mid to give us more size and strength in there. Brodie has been well down on his output last season as well.

Last year Brodie had 58 centre clearances.

Serong was next best with 51.

Mundy came in 3rd with 38.

Freo's hierachy has seen fit to remove the number 1 & 3 centre clearance players in the squad, when the removal of the most productive centre clearance player wasn't required.

Absurd.

It's genuinely the dumbest move I've seen in JLO's time.

He's just removed our number 1 centre clearance, stoppage and contested ball winner from season 2022 where we made a run to the finals and finished 6th overall.

We're 0-2 and Brodie has been replaced by a debutant for a derby - it's beyond stupid.

It's kinda weird how low their TOG is given they both have played at previous clubs with much higher percentages.

Well, I am not surprised by it, saw this coming.

He's not replaced by a first gamer, Johnson is the sub, the role will be filled by others already in the team, mostly Aish and Jackson.

What if it works? We've been badly beaten in the middle the first two games, and Brodie offers the least in general play from all our mids. Brodie is the one to go out because he is a specialist, good at one or two things and not so good at everything else.

We've been smashed around the ball in the first two rounds.

Let's remove our number 1 clearance and contested ball player. Makes sense.

The big issue, is Sean Darcy and his inability to get from contest to contest. He needs to lift.

It’s not working. It’s slow, and two of the guys in that group are in 65-70% gametime. Aish can come in and do the same if not better. Switkowski will be in.

The club is 0-2 because none of the midfielders are dominating. Have to drop that group and change the dynamic. Clearances mean nothing this season, as they’re getting thrashed.

He isn't close to being our best centre clearance player this season though, we don't get points for goals kicked last year.

He needs to find form and I expect he will. BRODIE.

Have to agree with this.

JOM clearly worse than Brodie. Two goals from a not particularly noted goal kicking mid don't change that.

Hughes still perplexes me.

It smacks of trying to be too clever.

Anyway Eagles are shit so we probably still win although I said that last week.

Think Henry will be pushed half forward to replace Banfield. Hughes v Gaff and NOD to outrun Sheed

It'd be stupid if it was the same Brodie from last year, but his numbers have been down.

I would say we're 0-2 because the forward line is utter shit. At one stage between the last quarter of round 1 and the start of round 2 we had 43 consecutive inside 50s without scoring a goal. That's unprecedented.
I'm not saying the mids are humming but the centre square is where we are mostly getting punished in the middle, and I agree with you so we had to change there.
The most important and correct selections are not dropping Amiss and Walters playing a full game - that's addressing the #1 reason we're losing though I would have preferred Sturt in as well to help with that,
The second most important decision is to do something different in the centre bounce and it seems they're doing that too.
Overall I think these are good decisions.
