Actually he's 8th all time.

#fakenews
So Simmo's going to change his mind on playing Petrie when he discovers he isn't actually top 5 all time playing at Etihad

I surprise myself by saying this but now that we've played ourself back into top four contention I think Butler is the better option over Nelson at this point. Butler is just better defensively and even if he's tough to watch with ball in hand, I think we've benefited from his composure in defensive fifty over the past weeks.

Who cares if he's played at Etihad a lot?

Wellingham and Mitchell played at the MCG more than most, wouldn't say their performances at the G have been any better than elsewhere.

I want a player picked on their general ability or team balance, not because they've played at a certain ground a lot.

Getting the feeling that there's some silly buggers being played by the match committee this week. Players going on separate flights, being coy about whether Cripps and Petrie will play...
The older boys with wives and kids sometimes get an extra night at home and take a later flight

Certainly is silly buggers being played

Every player named on the Eagles interchange listed as possibly playing for EP this weekend which I've not seen them do before

Only certainty now is that the 18 named on field will play so McInnes and Butler definite starters

Do you think we'll bring all 3 in?

I'd be surprised if we did that.

I reckon Nelson in will be it, maybe Cripps for Butler/Muts

I agree with you. But they named Petrie and after EF last year you never know what will happen. Nelson to counter their small forwards and Cripps for Mutimer makes sense. FMac played OK last week - unless there is an injury Petrie should play for EP this week.

cripps if fit comes in no Brainer

Mutimer unlucky out . He will get more games this year with mitchell missing a few and being a mid/fwd

Petrie vs mcinnis I would be inclined to play mcinnis he is in form and presented/ marked well . Petrie is also a stop gap, mcinnis deserves another chance to prove he is worth being on our list .

Nelson was unlucky to get injured when he did . Our defence has won us the last 2 games can't change it when they are firing

so for me it's cripps in Mutimer out

I have it on good authority that its one change this week and that's Cripps for mutimer. Mutimer part of the travelling party.

I know that's what I said but I wouldn't be passing that off as being on good authority

Ah, the classic name the likely change and try to pass it off as ITK info.

I know your games.

I have it on good authority that you're guessing like the rest of us.

So Cripps and Nelson have missed the same amount of games pretty much. One has a foot injury and presumably couldnt run (Cripps), the other had a hand injury so would have been able to run and keep fit, and our coach says the one that could run has missed 3 weeks and needs game time before he can play at the top level, but doesnt mention anything about the guy who couldnt run for three weeks missing games...

I think the main difference is that in the view of the match committee Cripps is a clear best 22 whilst Nelson is borderline best 22

I understand that Keys, but going by what the coach said it doesnt add up that one guy who hasnt played or run for 3 weeks is an automatic inclusion, when another who has at least been able to run since being injured, and has been in the best 22 for most of the year, is not available because of fitness.

If its just coz they think Cripps is better than anyone else just say so and dont bullshit about fitness being an issue for the other guy when hes been able to maintain more fitness than the guy being included. Personally i'd have Nelson in asap as he provided much of our drive off half back earlier in the season, and he's a better match for Essendons pacey small forwards than Butler.

Cripps is also 100x fitter than Nelson

Just because you can't run it doesn't mean you can't stay fit. There are other ways to work your cardiovascular system other than running
