100% this. I just don't see what Cloke offers if he's not marking the footy, I could count the amount of genuine contested marks he's taken on one hand this year. Last week was our best looking forward set up of the year but I think that was more off the back of the fast and precise ball movement. Would have liked to replicate that but with Red instead of Cloke as a much better option. Still keen to see the double prong attack in action though so fingers crossed they both turn it on!prefer the alignment with Red and Bont as the key forwards. Red's not an amazing target but he knows how to kick a goal. I really didn't rate Cloke's game last week and was hoping he'd be dropped.
another week for Webb to consolidate as a player at the highest level. Don't mind having him forward, he's clean and classy.
I like replying to myself it's much safer these days. You forgot to log out of your Yojimbo account before you replied to Yojimbo !!
Always dogwatch, Luke Beveridge had to have a press conferenceHaving a good convo you two?
I always thought a travelling emergency was what you packed Imodium in your suitcase for.
I agree with what people are saying on Clay being unfit but IIRC his last two games before suspension were 30+ touches so he was obviously covering a fair bit more ground even if it was only at VFL level. Besides I doubt hed get another chance if he wasn't putting in hard yards, bevs not like that. I'd say theres a good chance he's got his shit together fitness eise over the last month, and the MC would know if that's the case or not
Smith has laid 13 tackles inside 50 across the 7 games he's played this year. Among the competition's players who have played at least 5 games, there are only 4 players (Jamie Cripps, Jeffy Garlett, Jack Lonie, Paul Puopolo) are averaging more per game. Granted a lot of it is in F50 stoppages and not necessarily tackling to stop rebound, but the principle that he hasn't contributed value with defensive elements in our attack is off the mark IMO.
My criticism of him is that given his height ("only" 181cm) he's not nearly quick enough offensively to add value to our team, for example, our loss in our attempted comeback vs Geelong was in part because our forward thrusts were thwarted by Smith being our player on the lead, but not being anywhere near quicker than the 190cm+ players who were defending him. Someone like Dunkley might take his role over the next few weeks, whilst still having the lack of pace and kicking, at least something offers us something more in the air by simple virtue of being 190cm tall.
So in short I'm not so worried about how we'll be hurt by Brisbane by their half backs (Smith still offers us something applying pressure) but rather our our electric ball movement that we showed last week might be hurt by Smith taking Dickson's spot and being able to get lesser seperation using pace than Dickson was against taller opponents.
^^I'm sure the team and indeed Clay Smith have made note of your disappointment and will correct their mistakes on the weekend.
What an absolute flog post. This is the reason this place is going crap idiot posts that derail general conversations.
Smith has battled injury his entire career and his career has looked over more than once, if there is one player that should be doing everything in there power to be right and take every opportunity they have to make an impact it should be him, he should no better than anyone he might not get many more chances if another serious injury comes his way.
But yeah don't read the post just make a ridiculous post that adds nothing to this board all at an attempt to make your little self feel bigger than you actually are. Great contributor. No wonder this place has gone to s**t
This place is going alright but for posters who take it personally when players dare be anything but perfect. Clay Smith owes you nothing. The match committee owes you nothing. But let's whine and throw a hissy fit because the team wasnt chosen as expected. What an absolute flog post. This is the reason this place is going crap idiot posts that derail general conversations.

I'd argue that a bloke who has fought through three knee recos to play a huge part in breaking our flag drought is entitled to have a few extra pies over the off season. I'm certain he will be back and better than ever. Never forget his 4 goal, 26 touch 8 tackle BoG performance in the prelim. No Clay = no flag.
