Blic isn't much of a forward in all honesty - it's the one position on the ground I don't think he's really established himself in yet.then who do we play on Blivcas if he goes forward? We do seem short a tall defender
To be fair most of that discussion stemmed from talk about drafting another tall defender. Another kid on our list would hardly make a difference this week. Unless you advocate playing an 18-19 year old on Hawkins.Completely agree - yet we still have some people saying our KPD stocks are fine and we have no depth issues![]()

I think that's Mofra's point. To be fair most of that discussion stemmed from talk about drafting another tall defender. Another kid on our list would hardly make a difference this week. Unless you advocate playing an 18-19 year old on Hawkins.
Let's hope so. KP is a very narrow ground, if anything the risk of kicking out on the full is greater and Talia did it twice in 2 minutes last weekI'm confident there will be a late change to the line up and Talia will come in, I think the match committee are sending him a loud message that the garbage he served up in the first half last week will not be tolerated ....

He also said the Bont would play in round 3 and he was a late withdrawalBeveridge also mentions that Talia will play VFL, and that Minson should only miss a week.

Not most. Many of us were advocating a mature defender, either via trade or rookie list (e.g. Frost traded to Melbourne, Delaney rookied by the Saints). I'd be surprised if we don't target one during this year's trade period. To be fair most of that discussion stemmed from talk about drafting another tall defender.
Reasonable point - but just saying 'he's not up to it' is a broad statement.Previous form means nothing when selecting for the now though. I'm not saying he won't make it - but right now he's in bad form. Even at VFL level he's just been alright.
We tend not to play too many games at the selection table post Thursday, odds on that what Bevo says will happen.Koby in the background of the presser with the rest of the group. You can't see much but the group seemed to be doing a light session inside and it looks as though he was involved. Beveridge also mentions that Talia will play VFL, and that Minson should only miss a week.
What I said though was that on current form he's not up to it. Which he isn't - he was destroyed last week until moved forward. On almost every entry he was in shocking position and did little to rectify that. Give up prime position that easily against Hawkins and he'll make the most of it.Reasonable point - but just saying 'he's not up to it' is a broad statement.
Fairly harsh not to give him more of a go I think.

Talia's shown that he is capable of playing at AFL level in the past; I'm not going to dispute that and I still hold out hope that he'll rediscover that sort of form. Right now, though, he's in form that sees him fail to stand out even at VFL level.
As for Ayce - my thoughts on the experiment are well known so I won't go there. But he played a role for us and gave, to some extent, what Beveridge wanted from our main ruckman at the time. Talia is failing to do that. The situations are different.

I don't think we're exposed. I think it's about gameplan and development this week. We could've played Talia, Cordy or Kelly but we haven't. Instead we chose to back Morris and Roughead, with chop-outs from Wood.I think that's Mofra's point.
Drafting another tall defender was never going to fix the problem for tomorrow's game (unless it was a mature aged player) but tomorrow's problem does highlight that our stocks currently don't run as deep as some people think. Two injuries and we are exposed. If Zaine comes on and Talia makes the grade (and stays) we'll be in a better position but we probably won't know for another year. Meanwhile Mr Fixit, Dale Morris, will probably retire within a year or two, so we'll need to cover his departure.
Furthermore if the KPD stocks prove unsatisfactory it means we are forced to keep Roughy there pretty much all the time. That in turn reduces our flexibility elsewhere and forces us to rely on Minson, Campbell and Ayce in the ruck, none of whom seem to be the right answer. Roughy has performed as well as any of them in that role. He may well be our best ruck option.
Not saying KPF depth isn't an issue either - it's just a different discussion.
I'd say most. I don't remember too many outright disagreeing with bringing in mature cover, just that we had other more pressing needs. Not most. Who said it was a "major pressing issue"? I'd have thought ruck was a more pressing issue for a starter.I don't think we're exposed. I think it's about gameplan and development this week. I still don't see it as a huge necessity but we'll get another in as an insurance policy (i.e., Roberts' body, Talia's whatever). But to point to it as some major pressing issue is a bit much, when as you said the KPF problem exists.

Nobody in this thread. But it's an argument that dates back to the draft and trading period.Who said it was a "major pressing issue"? I'd have thought ruck was a more pressing issue for a starter.
