Don't you guys get it yet?
Beveridge does not believe in slow, strong ruckmen. He will never play them unless he is forced to.
He also hates Trengove both as a defender and a ruckman.
Bruce is also a terrible backup ruckman.
Jacobs played his best game last year against English in the final round of the season at Ballaratt. It was the same story in 2018 too on a wet Adelaide Oval. English can beat him around the ground, but Jacobs will crush him in the stoppages.
English is not a solo-ruckman. We will keep struggling in the middle until we have a stronger presence contending the hitouts, which means we will keep struggling until Beveridge's contract has run out.
Why is English not a one out ruckman? He’s the exact prototype who’s just yet to hit is physical peak. Huge tank, good hands, good skills. The AFL has been full of late developing ruckman. Including Jacobs. English is no different to them, except he may be better than most.

. I can see the potential in him though. Can kick the ball nicely and can move like a smaller player when he's motivated to. Is some consistency too much to ask for? I'd have been happy for either Dale/Lloyd to make way for McLean (who needs a solid game too).
