Lipinski out is a surprise, still think we are short a tall in defence with them having Cameron himmelberg and finlayson, still no support for English.

On the positive side gowers and Gardner are out.

Think dale should be out was terrible in the final last year, had 2 poor preseason games and been poor round one and two.

At least selection is a step in the right direction this week much better than last week. But still lack support for English and pace and pressure up forward.

Not sure why we are holding weightman back small forwards generally can impact early after being drafted yet seems to be no intention to give him a chance

Can’t see Weightman getting a run anytime soon. He’s a short burst, X factor player. Not the most physically developed recruit either. Will need a run at it in the VFL before we see him at top level imo.

What will actually happen is that English gets slaughtered in the ruck with minimal help from other players.

Someone needs to tell Bev that since they banned 3rd man up the primary role of the ruckman is to win the ruck contests.

I don’t think it will be as bad this week English lost the taps against Jacob last year in round 23 but wasn’t slaughtered and held his own fairly well so I can understand no support this week although I’d have rathered he had some support

Maybe give Naughton a run in the ruck at times. I seem to remember he was OK when tried before.

Will get him involved in the game and English can rest forward.

KM

Keep his knee away from ruck contests

I think he’s exactly what we lack in our forward half tbh and if you look back at small forwards drafted recently they have all impacted straightaway. Higgins (rich), rozee, Miers etc. those types add a spark to the team and for us would offer much needed goal nous and speed

We couldn't bring in McLean and Libba and not leave a mid out. Otherwise we are stuck with midfielders who have no idea how to play forward in our forward line.

Although not sure they could do worse than Dale and Lloyd last week.

Yeah, that’s true, but I don’t think he came in as ready to go as those you’ve mentioned. I guess it’s a case of whether he’s ready or not and by the looks of it the coaches don’t think he is.

Thats a bit harsh feel sorry for him he is not ready and should have not been picked

The amount of vitriol aimed at a guy who is wearing our colours is pretty ordinary in my opinion. Barely played the game at the highest level and I’m sure he hasn’t held a gun to Bev’s head to select him these last few weeks. Not to mention that he doesn’t have a Wood or Moz around to coach him on-field.

I agree that it's pretty ordinary to be tearing shreds into young people giving their all. Especially someone who's probably on a base contract.

But on some level, we're here to disect and discuss. If someone is slower than the required AFL standard, has poorer disposal than many other players that are left out of the team, is costing the team goals when in the senior squad, we can't exactly ignore what's in front of our eyes. We need to be able to communicate player weaknesses in one way or another.

Yeah after we made a big deal of Vandermeers debut, I wouldn't expect any this week since we heard nothing.

Hopefully no huge changes despite how poor that effort was. We need some continuity. I think I'd be happy with:

OUT: Richards (assuming injured), Gowers, Gardner

IN: Cordy, Trengove, McLean

We were told last week Libba was likely, then he wasn't even named as emergency. Not getting my hopes up for this week, but he'd be in if he's ready
lol delusional.

This schedule is not ideal. Five day break then a six day break into the Swans game.. I wonder if Pippa is being rested, rather than omitted. He was decent last week. Happy with the rest.

Not bad but a bit surprised by Lipinski. Still no help for English either.
******* lol. Tim English with no help again
Gardner and Gowers out is good. The three ins are good. Wish Trenners or Sweet was in, I assume Bruce will chop out in the ruck occasionally.
Don't you guys get it yet?
Beveridge does not believe in slow, strong ruckmen. He will never play them unless he is forced to.
He also hates Trengove both as a defender and a ruckman.

Bruce is also a terrible backup ruckman.
Jacobs rucking one out for GWS and he’s also not the strongest of ruckman so not a bad week to let English have another crack.
Jacobs played his best game last year against English in the final round of the season at Ballaratt. It was the same story in 2018 too on a wet Adelaide Oval. English can beat him around the ground, but Jacobs will crush him in the stoppages.

English is not a solo-ruckman. We will keep struggling in the middle until we have a stronger presence contending the hitouts, which means we will keep struggling until Beveridge's contract has run out.

Agree with this completely.

You would think if fans are going to single out any players to take their frustration out on, it would be the ones on bigger contracts, and putting in even more disgraceful performances, like Sam Lloyd and Jason Johannisen.

Yeah and I’m not suggesting that we stop doing that but I think it’s unhelpful to lay into a bloke with a certain level of viciousness for trying hard but falling short of the mark [emoji1360]

Thought Lipinski was ok in relative terms but there you go.

Hopefully Cordy and McLean have copped their kick in the backside and put their best foot forward.

Good to have Libba back. Was a bit concerned when he wasn’t picked last Week given he was strictly for, but I’m sure he’d love to dish a bit out.

Midfield got slaughtered and the ball was flying into their forward line with ease snd people want to lay blame at the feet of the new guy. Nobody would say it’s acceptable that he turned his back as a bloke walked by for an easy goal but there were plenty of experienced guys out there that showed zero fight. Those guys deserve to be questioned far more than Ryan. It’s not enough that’s he’s been omitted, people still want to kick him on his way out the door.
