FB: Crozier Keath Suckling
HB: Williams Bruce JJ
C: Smith Bont Richards
HF: Lipinski Naughton Wallis
FF: Mclean Schache Lloyd
Ruck: English McCrae Dunkley
I/C: Jong Trengrove Daniel Libba

Ins: Libba, Schache, Mclean, Trengrove
Outs: Gowers, Gardner, Vandemeer, Dale

Trengrove to give English a chop out. Also gives us the option to have three talls forward or back whatever suits us best.
Would rather Bruce than Cordy at CHB, he was originally a back and has done bugger all forward for us so far.
Suckling takes the kick ins- now you can run out of the square Suckling would have options anywhere within 70m yet we have been using Caleb & Cordy (another rule change we have not adjusted to).
JJ on his last warning, but at the same time whoever is tagging him and bont needs to cop it from everyone

Thoughts?
Bruce kicked 4 in the preseason game he played. Since then he's had to suffer with an Auskick level midfield. Be patient, when we switch it back on Bruce will be kicking bags

He never had good supply at the Saints and still managed some good hauls. He'll do well with us

This team is not based on any facts about who is available to play, however I wanted to make a couple of statements about things that aren't working.

1. English still doesn't have the presence in the ruck. Play him as a ruck forward for the next 12-18 months

2. Caleb Daniel at half back has failed. Plain and simple. Currently a liability down there. Put him on the ball or out of the side

3. We desperately need a mid-size defender. Hoping it can be Lachie Young cos it sure aint Gardner.

That's what annoys me a bit. Preseason we looked to be in good form. We had a couple of holes but they could be fixed once absent players came back from injuries/form drops. Instead of improving on that preseason lineup, we announce two crap ones in a row that don't play to the teams strengths and as a result players are arguing with eachother, we get shat on etc.

I saw Gardner in the preseason side as a fill in but it seems he's here to stay according to Bevo.

We seem to be frustrated by the same things every season. Players being played out of position, unclear game plan, weird team selections. Then 6 weeks in, suddenly the team starts to switch on a bit, Bevo stops ****ing around, and we scramble to try hit enough wins to scrape into finals.

Just once, I'd like a clear game plan, clear best 22 and a consistent season

Sam Jacobs is completely cooked IMO. Goldy completely and utterly destroyed him on the weekend.

If English (and hopefully Trengove) should be able to win that battle at least.
I think GWS Giants having FIVE SELECTIONS before Brodie Grundy was drafted has to go down as one of the biggest mistakes in
recent draft history considering three of the five players are goneski already.

The Dogs passing on Lance Franklin goes close

Matching up with GWS credit cards is a challenge - more a team defence than matching players but we can’t keep leaving exposed areas.

credit cards have three talls in Cameron, Findlayson and Himmelberg and then there is punchface?

Fully fit we would match with Keath, Trengrove and Wood and Duryea in that order and do OK. With current injuries would be Keath, Trengrove and Cordy (or Lewis Young) and Williams (played OK but not sure he is mean enough).

In the mid we struggle with the run of Kelly and Druggie Whitfield. Who do we have that can run with them. LVM is too young. Daniel has the tank. JJ and Richard probably only options.

Their defence is excellent with Shitshaw, Davis, Corr, Taylor and Haynes but it is a bit slow. Need to make them run and take players to run up the wings from HFF.

English needs a chop out in the ruck but also needs to go forward and clunk a few. Trenners To come in allow us to pull some levers - Naughton back then forward and Trenners to findlayson.

Dickson gives them nightmares from those finals but also tackles in the F50.

Grunt with Libba, Wallis; West and Dunkley running through with a mission to go at them hard. We want to kill them in the tackle count.

Schache in so Bont can play CHF but also drop into the role when he goes into the midfield to manage the choker debooer.

So would be....

Dickson Bruce Wallis
Daniel Bont Schache

JJ Dunkley Richards
English Macrae Libba

Williams Naughton Suckling
Cordy Keath Crozier

Int: Trengrove, Smith, West, McLean

The plus side of Trengove being in is he can replace both Gardner and support English - two of the biggest problems from last night. Another bonus I feel though, is that I think English would actually rotate quite well into the backline, he seems to float back and take some good grabs on occasion. If he can have that ability it allows us to almost set up a direct rotation through backline between them two, which is better than having to throw things around when we want to give English a rest.

Our back six/seven also needs some work. As far as I'm concerned, JJ, Daniel and Suckling are not defenders. They all play well behind the ball, but importantly they cannot defend. They need to play further up the ground/that praccy match against Norf. Not neccesarily swap them out of the team, but I would be happy for all three to find new roles, and then sub Cordy and both Youngs into the backline this week. Previously posted about Trengove in for Gardner too. Longer term Wood and Duryea would probably replace the Youngs but that doesnt help us this week...

Agreed. Has no more tricks to his bow. When we are on he looks fantastic and when we are off he doesn’t get near it and can’t impact on the game.

Much prefer Schache. However would prefer Dale over Lloyd. Due to having a higher ceiling and same level of current output.

Lloyd is the worst snapper of the ball I’ve seen. I don’t think he’s kicked more than 3 snap goals since he’s been at the club. Crameri come back!

Jong out?
Maybe I was watching a different game...
Jong was one of our better players. If the team plays with his intensity we win most games. We played with basically no heart, no enthusiasm. was depressing having to wath that performance.

We are lucky we played an ordinary Saints team

Dish that up on Friday and we lose by 25 goals

Sweet's main problem is his tank. Maybe 16 minute quarters will hide some of that. I still don't think he's ready, and English is a much better mark around the ground which seems to be more important to the coaching group.
I'd bring Trengove in ahead of Sweet.

If there is any week to blood him it is this week as lets face it sauce jacobs isnt the most mobile bloke running around at the moment as well. But again I am confused as to where that puts Tim in the side? You can't drop him nor does he deserve to as his around the ground work has been very good its just that centre square dominance is killing us atm.

How many times did Zak Jones get a free run and centre clearance which kills all your momentum

Mixed it up this week.

All out pace and tackle pressure up forward

JJ, Richards, Vendermeer, Wally, Bruce and Naugthen as lead up CFH. The role of the first 4 smaller guys is to run, chase, hassle, harrass, tackle, fight dirty so there are no clean balls from defence.

Keep it in our half, play the territory game what Bevo knows well and we will win.

In: McClean, Dickson, Cordy, Trengove

Out: Dale, Gardner, Gowers, Suckling
Not too bad Bazza. Certainly agree with all of the outs and would add LLoyd as well as getting Daniel (Yep personal statistics mean crap, we are not a better team in any way with him down back but with maturity he may now be a small forward we are looking for) and JJ out of the backline.

Not sure about Dickson or Cordy's fitness so would include La Young, Weightman, West, Sweet, Libba (if in condition), Schache (If Lloyd, Dale and Gowers or at least 2 of them are dropped), Duryea if fit....... There are certainly a lot of options that would improve balance, skill, physicality ....... and would allow for a better team connection

As a Bulldogs supporter, after supporting the club for many years you gain supernatural abilities. You gain the ability to tell if we are going to win or not within the first 5 minutes of the game. I knew on Sunday night that we were not going to win. But this weekend I am tipping us to win. Mainly because I am desperate for a win but also because I can just tell we are going to.
