Will this be one of those games where we are flat as a pancake at the start?

Coming off a big win in front of a full house - a Showdown no less - against a low-ranked opposition in front of a small crowd... not another 7 goals to 1 goal Melbourne/Essendon effort I hope!

Hoping not many changes here. Worried about the size of the forwards of GWS.

The boys showed courage, strength and determination, lets see if it's a consistent winning formula.

Ruthless is dropping someone to bring back your captain??? :D
Pretty sure if Dangerfield or Sloane had been out this week with injury the Crows would be "ruthless" and bring them back!

Plenty of players have been dropped through no fault of their own - that's the mark of a good, ruthless side.

Because he isn't big enough for Patten or Cameron.

Talia will take Cameron and Rutten will take patten
Talia will take Roughead and Thompson on Gunston for the hawks game.

Rutten needs to play the Hawks game. Hale also plays a lot of forward so no one will be able to go with him if Roughy and Gunston are also down there.

I think we might have to disagree on what ruthless means. Bringing the captain back after he's recovered from an injury is not being ruthless, it's standard. But then dropping 4 players after beating the top side would not be ruthless either, it'd be madness. We don't have 4 top players who missed out on Sunday because of injury. Mackay should probably come back in because the only reason he wasn't playing was due to concussion, so that's one. Any more than that and you're dropping players in favour of guys who didn't even play in the SANFL on the weekend.

Murphy was dropped in 08 in the lead up to the GF as well.

We aren't that good a side that no one is undroppable; we had a good win, but we need to rapidly get our best team on the park.

So you think that the team that bit the top of the ladder team is 4-5 men short of being our best team?
Gee... if we do get our top team in the next couple of weeks, we may finish with 14 wins.
Good thinking 99!

Cameron hasn't played a decent game since his ruptured eardrum and has in the main been a bit disapointing this year, word is he's carried a "niggle" most of the season??

Nearly everyone is refusing to acknowledge that Walker is going to be rested this week. The coach spoke about this at length a few weeks ago, and this is CLEARLY the week for it. 6 day break, followed by another 6 day break. The following game is Friday night against the Hawks and HE AIN'T MISSING THAT. Lynch is back, Jenkins and Pods are there, and Otten can swing forward if necessary. Tex has looked pretty bloody average for the majority of the last 2 games to be fair, and giving him 12 days between the Showdown and the Friday night blockbuster against the Hawks is an absolute must for mine.

It's not a case of us underestimating GWS or taking things lightly. We chose to 'rest' Truck against Port and that certainly didn't backfire (yes yes, I know there was supposedly no ideal matchup for him, but he's actually owned Schulz in the past - people have short memories). We have the flexibility in the 22 (now that Lynch is back) to cover Tex in this game. We have players with some quality such as Mackay, Laird, Kerridge, Matt Crouch, Grigg, Henderson, Rutten and Hartigan potentially pushing for selection this week (it's not like we're bringing in McKernan or Osborn for him and sabotaging the team). We have to think about the long-term health of our superstar here. 6 day breaks coming off a knee reco are undoubtedly rough, let alone consecutive 6 day breaks coming off a gruelling Showdown.

It's happening. Deal with it.

Doesn't look at peace with the world lately.

Is he out of contract at the end of this season?

I thought Thompson was quite good. Dmac for Lyons.
 ....:p

Strange strange logic .......Lyons plays probably his best qtr of football and you want him out

Yet you keep the king of mediocrity L.Thompson over Kerridge or Laird

9 disposals from LT, who spends most of a football game falling over .....and he's suddenly in our best 22

Hopefully Mackay doesn't come back in. One of the reasons we won is we didn't have light-weights like him unable to break a single tackle and stepping down when it gets a bit tough. Can't have senior players who provide the opposite of on-field leadership.

Henderson in for Reilly would be a dream come true. Reilly was the odd one out in that second half and was even slower than usual.
Worse post i have seen you make ........can't believe such a ridiculous statement

On your logic, strange that it is ........we won't & shouldn't play Charlie Cameron as he's a liability :p:p:p

Only an idiot who knows nothing about football, unlike the rest of us, would judge a defender solely on their possession count when he's come into a showdown after not playing at this level for 2 years and towels up some of the better small forwards in the comp.:eek::p

Danger out for a rest, McKay in. Porps sub

easy
Why not play Danger as sub then ....surely that gives the opportunity to rest but also call upon if required ???

How do you figure?

Mackay gets rag-dolled if anyone breathes on him. Charlie moonwalks out of tackles like the tacklers are stuck in quicksand.

And as yet unsigned I believe!
I know he'll have other suitors but presumably we have a pile of unspent Gibbs cash.

And with Otten, L Thompson and Hartigan showing at least some signs that they can become support acts to Talia the urgency to land someone like Frawley isn't as great as it perhaps appeared at the start of the season.

Wow Wayne - 2 posts in a row to demonstrate your blind subjectivity - at either end of the spectrum
Yep ........have a low tolerance for players with NO UPSIDE

Never saw anyone pushing L.Thompsons barrow for the last year and a half

yep 9 possessions with no influence .....yep great way to build a premiership side

DOES ANYONE THINK STUPIDLY THOMPSON WILL BE IN OUR NEXT FLAG SIDE ........Really seriously

Really hope other clubs want him ....may get a decent trade

Yep one play defines a career ......and is the basis of your player comparison

Thought you were better than that ......but then again iam watching your SC performance ....so it doesn't surprise really ;):p
