One classic wet toast flog:

"Not sure why some people are thinking this will be close.

They are bringing underdone players into a cutthroat final on our home-ground

We've just beaten 3 top contenders 3 weeks in a row. Never been done before.

This will be over by half time, granted after a slow-ish start from the lads"

They'll probably 'forget' to turn on the hot water in our rooms too, the flogs. Who cares, we haven't done it the easy way all season so why start now?

That's what i thought .. wet scrote supporters think it's sydney or great waste of space.

Do WC get a home final if they win this week?
winner of the next game will play winner of GWS - SYD... they are really getting ahead of themselves if they have dismissed the hawks or geelong lol

That's cool. I remember nobody gave us a chance against the Pies in 2006, but we took care of them.

Rank underdogs. No expectations, no pressure, nobody expects us to win, and that's perfect.

We go out there in the first five minutes hit them as hard as we can. Finals are different, there's no tomorrow for the loser so we just throw everything at them.

We play a team that lost to Collingwood, almost lost to Carlton, was run to within a goal at home by Melbourne and beaten at home by the Crows.

On top of that, we actually won the last time we met, so the Weagles supporters can continue to pleasure themselves over past performances until the bounce tomorrow night, then it's on.

It's all or nothing.. why bother resting players in a final? That is ******ed
Less resting, more unfortunate that they're underdone. Just bad luck, but it doesn't mean it won't effect their play and probably cause us to lose.

C'mon Mike, we're in a final. I don't care what's against us, as far as I'm concerned, we finished 15-7 for a reason and that's because we're a very good side.

It's 6th v 7th. The way some are talking you would think it was 1st v 18th.

Never thought we would beat Sydney in Sydney two years in a row, but we did.

Yes, it'll be tough, but West Coast bleed, just like we do, so I hope we make them bleed tomorrow.

A question to those who have watched more of the Eagles this year than I have.

What is the best way to break down their system. As I see it they thrive under the high ball and apply midfield pressure to intercept the quick kick forward.

Is the best way to implement a methodical short passing game to work up the ground and through the 'web'.

Thoughts?

The web is broken by quick switching and precise kicking. Harder to pull off at Subiaco, but if the forwards push up the ground you can get in behind by going from one wing to the other, hard running half backs moving to receive on the other wing. It's how Adelaide broke us down when they won at Subiaco earlier in the year. Our midfield is slow quite slow and we don't guard the switch well.

Good teams can handball through the middle but it only takes one missed handball to lead to a rushed kick, which is where we set up best to intercept. If you take too long to get up the field as well, the midfielders have time to get back and clog up the defence. We rely a lot on contested marks around the ground because our movement is not that great in the middle, so if you make sure your key defenders follow the forwards and the ruckman get in good spots you can win the ground ball.

Our forward line is working really well together at the moment, and our midfielders are great at hitting leading forwards when we get on top. Make it a dirty game in the middle and target Luke Shuey on the inside and Andrew Gaff on the outside.

Best of luck, hope it's a great game.

Thanks for the insight Quinz, appreciate the comments.

I'm hoping we send Picken to Gaff to try shut him down then the rest of our mids probably have to go head-to-head with Priddis, Shuey etc.

We have been bombing the ball aimlessly into our forward line all year, so if we don't correct this on Thursday McGovern and Barrass will have a field day and it will be game over. Bev would know this better than anyone so I'm hoping he has something up his sleeve.

We've got Biggs, JJ, Wood and even Hamling who are all quite quick coming out of the back half so if we can switch, as you as, then get it to them maybe we're a chance of breaking down the web.

We have to get better at hitting leading forwards however or we just won't score as I see it with your talls down back.

Hoping for no injuries to either team and no obvious impact from the umps either way.

no natanui, and lycett has a dodgy knee... i wouldn't be against going with our early year Campbell/roughy duo again, and leave boyd FF. can cause them issues with our talls like the last time we met, they had no answer to campbell and roughy, out marked them all over the ground. only concern would be campbells long stint out.

Macrae, libba and woods back in is massive. Mclean would be a good in, he is a difficult character to deal with, he is what jarrod grant never became.

Drop roberts, he can't handle the big bodies of kennedy and Darling. they will eat him alive and i will age a year every time he goes near it. Hamling isn't a great deal better in that regard, but hamling offers more as a footballer, in terms of gameplay sense.

Getting the feeling we will run and gun more then we have for quite some time.

**** i wish we had adams. not sure why everyone thinks we are no chance in hell. The team we field on thursday will be a better team then we had against Geelong at shell. Even at their best i couldn't see WC mids coping better then geelong did until libba went off. Bring that kind of nothing to lose ferocity and the eagles won't no what hit them.
Good luck in bringing in so many underdone players into a finals series on a bigger ground. Anyway let's hope it's a good game and that both teams give it their all, and may the best team on the day win.

No - would have had to finish in the top 4 to get 2 home finals. If we should get over the line, to make the big dance we would have to play and win 3 games on the road!!

According to wet scrote scum we will get murdered by over 10 goals... by half time

Probably shouldn't bother turning up ;)
Not sure if srs as wouldn't think anybody would be that stupid to think any team is going to win by 10 goals. If true then somebody is wishful thinking I would think.

go dogs go kick there butt.. the crowd will be crying balllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll ballllllllllllllllllllllllllll balllllllllllllllllllllll trying to get umpires attention.while we have the last laugth over the tv.......go dogssssssssssssssssssssssss

Libba and Maccrae are the only ones who could be considered underdone surely? Or is that what you mean by so many?

Libba's first ever final.

I doubt he'll be feeling underdone.

Some of the Coaster's ribs will feel tender and underdone after his first few tackles.

If Clay plays I expect the long break will do him the world of good as well. He's been rightly criticised on here but let's not forget that in his first games back he showed that ferocious attack on the ball.

Clay and Libba will be taking out some long pent up frustrations on Thurs. Don't know if they can bring it for four quarters but they will bring it on.

Gots me a good feeling about this game. Think the drink has an ambush set for the weagles.
I've been wanting to say this but too superstitious :p. Thinking back to round one 2015....

Mind you, we had Murphy and Crameri then :(

Second edit: And Wallis - he's the one we miss right now :(
