VDM can run, is quick, and is a prick.
I really think he needs to get a chance as a tagger. If he's not in the AFL side this week I'd like to see him get a chance as a run-with at VFL level to add a tool to his skillset

whats the point if we don't use taggers.

Shame for JOD, he’s turning into an awesome defender. Lost 2 one on ones from 12 all year and starting to regain his confidence with his marking & kicking. At least we’ve found one defender, Buku I’m still happy with again I don’t think he was the problem Friday night and I don’t care if he can’t defend when the midfield is being smashed, not many can.

Is he a gun stopper? No but he doesn’t have to be.

Need Busslinger to come in this week and grab his chance at CHB and we’ll be looking a bit better. Fact is we won’t compete in finals without Darcy, but we did play some good footy without him last year and I think we can still get something out of this year. As drastically ****ing terrible it is to lose him.

I’m open to doing something different with the ruck, I think it’s becoming very clear now with 5 on the bench the play isn’t one ruck with a back up. It’s 2 rucks. Even Melb brought in another this week.

I’m not exactly a big fan of Smith I don’t think he’s much chop, but if we think he’s got a future and can hold his own around the ground then bring him in. English centre bounces and chopping out forward & def for Darcy & to help our backline. Smith doing some grunt work around the ground. No more Croft & Emmett in the ruck, they’re liabilities with how important big rucks are right now and especially to the way we play it’s crucial. We can’t keep getting smashed in the ruck when we base our whole game on stoppage dominance, it’s ****ing insanity. Croft needed forward anyway and Emmett needs a lot of time in the 2s

Out: Darcy, Libba, JOD, Emmett, Lobb?
In: English, Treloar, Busslinger, Smith, Gardner?

Also Arty definitely in if fit, probably for Hynes (Davo was good after first qtr, best he’s been for a while) if not fit maybe VDM

Changes aside, I'm going Thursday night, in spite of the round trip from Western Vic that will see me get home well after midnight, and a very early start on Friday.

And I ain't going to drive all that way to see us lose

Yep by the time the 86 tram gets to Reservoir. I won't be in bed till 11:30 , then back up at 6 to drive to Wyndham Vale for a 7:30am start. Then i walk 14km reading water meters.

If me & geoffjennings79 can make it , so can you !

Seriously you still buying into this new rules bullshit. The new rules do not count around the ground 70 to 80% of ruck contests where clearances do have an impact
But with the last touch rule, there are fewer of these around the ground stoppages

And with 5 in the bench allowing for flexibility, you're far less likely to be facing a dud or makeshift opposition ruck.

It's all the rules together

Plus, his year last year was probably less bad than his career in general - many of the fan frustrations remained, just less frequently.

JOD was very solid late last year while the defence around him was collectively woeful.

He has also been the only defender who has carried his solid form through all 6 games. Players like Buku, Lobb and Jaques's form have declined with the team in general. Sellwood has been very good in all but 1 game inexplicably playing poorly against Essendon.

Played three good games at the start of the year which is all anyone wants to remember. The rest of his year was as useless as 2024, maybe even worse. Kicked one goal in the last 9 games, had career lows in tackles and pressure acts.

Sure, but we're splitting hairs on the difference between good Vandermeer and bad Vandermeer - it why I said "less bad" and not "good". We know the player he is, we know that Bevo finds value in the role he executes structurally beyond how he (poorly) interacts with the ball, we know he's been a more or less consistent mainstay in our best 22, unless we have virtually no injuries, for over half a decade. And we are probably a better team - only just, but we are - with him in it.

In the words of the great Terry wallet, if bevo brings gardner in over the buss I'll spew up! Time to give him a run to prove himself.

Hope we bring Treloar and Dolan back in. Id rather vdm over McNeil, but would rather see neither.

Emmetts had a crack, kid isn't ready. Give Smith a run. Grundy will kill Emmett, will likely dominate smith too but he might be more competitive around the ground. Really hope lobb can get up, he's been very average but gives us flexibility with ruck and kpd.

See you there, I'll spend all week working out a way to avoid bloody train replacement buses and road works locally (tired of this big build, nothing works anymore), but I'll get there.

Incredible though how my expectations have shifted since I enjoyed my half time coffee and snack at HT v the Bombers.

Out : Lobb, Darcy, Libba, JOD, Lewis (omfg)

In: Buss, Coff, Dolan, Treloar and Mcneil

Gardner a chance instead of Coff or McNeil

Carmichael a chance but will we debut another with this instability?

Laith maybe but surely not ready yet?

Plenty of drop candidates but we don’t have the cavalry
if Gardner is a chance to play ................

Not sure I can get from the Sunny Coast after work on Thursday and back again to start work on Friday but I admire your efforts

You have got a note from your parents . Excused

Bont and our two vice-captains are both proppy. Libba, the last man besides Bont to captain a match, is out. Of the leadership team, Dale is also a bit proppy and of course Weightman is out.

Imagine anyone being told two years ago that Matt Kennedy might be next in line to lead the Bulldogs out.
