Same team.. except Nelson has to go. He was a liability.
I think he'll be a fantastic, hard hitting defender with a cool head and solid hit in future. However, at the moment he's too green and coughed up some awful stuff on Thurs. Can't have that in finals: especially not against top teams such as Geelong.

Who to replace him with?

Edit: after reading through suggestions: Watson was outstanding and reliable.

I don't think it's Allen's fault that JK has been getting hands to balls and dropping marks as well as missing set shots. The only thing that happened was that we had better deliver i50 thanks to Rioli and Shuey and JK got some confidence back.

It’s not so much his fault...but I’ve seen Allen cut in front of leads, crowd contests etc, I’m sure most would agree that does happen.

It’s just the different structure - 3 legit talls hasn’t always clicked for us this year. Waterman may just be better suited to play that half forward role with the current set up - remember it’s Mark LeCras’s spot they are probably still searching to find the perfect fit for.

Makes sense. What I don't understand is why West Coast and Freo don't lease a plane between them and take a chartered flight for every away game. They've got the financial resources to do so.

And can you imagine the Eddiewood whingeing! WC get to travel charter/business class when they come to play us, we should get the same. Paid for by the AFL.

It's my birthday next Friday. I'm now living in a foreign land, battling time differences to barrack like a lunatic. And it would be so very nice for the boys to get it done in a week.

If we manage to nut Geelong twice, first by sending them packing and second when they hand over Tim Kelly, I will be a very happy man. And although i will have left the 27 club by then, i'll be happy to depart in the 28s, because Lordy, I think my life will have peaked.

All non player salary spending is capped by the AFL, and if you exceed the cap amount you pay a tax to the league for every dollar you exceed it by. I believe for every dollar you spend beyond the cap, you have to pay an additional dollar in tax to the league. It basically becomes unsustainable to spend beyond the amount the AFL allow.

It’s designed to ensure the pathetic broke minnow clubs can keep up with the big boys who ran their clubs properly. The AFL doesn’t want rich clubs getting an advantage by being able to pay the best support staff, charter flights, look after their players welfare properly etc etc, because it might upset some broke Victorian sides.

So as a result, if we want to sort private flights to Melbourne throughout finals, it would cost us twice as much. If we wanted to set up a second base of operations in Victoria, it would cost an unsustainable amount of money. Because not everyone can afford it, the AFL wants nobody to have it.

I loathe the soft cap for various reasons. Basically It smacks of equality of outcome instead of equality of opportunity.At the end of the day some clubs are just gonna be better than others. Shouldn’t punish them for that.
