I am told, from a source who has no reason to lie, that Rankine was targeted by 3 Pies players. Didn't say who. But it was threats to knock him out. It was consistent and persistent all game and Rankine made the slur late in the game after a couple hours of sniping at him.

Houston, Sidebottom and Quaynor would be my guess. All 3 of them can expect to cop it, we are bigger than them physically. Houston is an absolute little ****ing rat, the first time he's tackled would love a few of our boys to pile in on top of him.

I didn’t watch Pies v Melbourne, on First Crack they talked about Melbourne cutting Pies up through the middle, which is what Hawks did against them.

Also showed Pies attacked the centre corridor in the last leading to their big qtr.

Will we change our gameplan in the final? We can’t rely on holding out 71 inside 50s again. Will we try to move the ball quicker, use the corridor more to get the ball to our strength, our forward line.

Second what will we do to address getting smashed in the middle each week? We will not win the flag unless we address this.

I think we'll be hoping for a clear night.

TAB have it as Thursday and points bet have it at Friday
And TAB have both games on the Thursday
And PointsBet have both games on the Friday....

I think we might just be playing Saturday night.

And it makes sense that this would need to be already decided as teams need to know earlier than Wednesday night to start preparing.

Our team has absolutely no record of ever doing this stuff. Think a lot of guys who think we'll come out hot are going to be disappointed.

Saturday night a good bet I think.

Since the pre finals bye came in and ignoring the covid years, there has been a Friday night final in Melbourne every year including 4x when there has only been one final in Melbourne in week 1.

So lock in Geelong - Brisbane Friday night.

Every year besides 2017, they’ve matched up a Thursday night EF/QF with their week 2 opponent from the Friday night game. (E.g. if Friday night is 2 v 3, Thursday is 6 v 7).

So I reckon Freo Thursday night.

Leaves Saturday. GWS in the twilight, Crows-Collingwood at night.

Simple.

Have on reasonably good authority that it was just Houston, just once, but highly offensive.

And even if we did, we haven't exactly demonstrated that we know how to play to the line without crossing over it.

Let Collingwood come out with bluff and bluster, we'll focus on kicking goals.

I'd rather us focusing on the game at hand and not get too caught up with roughing up Houston and the like. As much as it would be great to do, there's also the risk of it becoming too much of a distraction.

The number of suspensions we've had this year suggests we don't know where the line is for most things.

Not sure what past years have been. But it feels odd that we, the top team, would play the last game of the round?

If we lost and played the semi, we’d be coming off a shorter break.
Fully expect Geelong v Brisbane to be Friday night so the MCG is packed.

But surely Thursday would make more sense for us?
