Can anybody tell me why Hartigan's name keeps popping up around here? Has he been carving it up in the SANFL?

Consistently good footy, with a couple of really impressive games stats wise at least. Was also upgraded to the senior list last week which suggests he's not far off.

His selection would also allow us to trial Otten or Talia up forward.

better option than tambling, surely. at least kerridge will be on the list next year.

speaking of which, im well aware draft picks can go right or very wrong, but why the hell did we ever trade for tambling, graham, carey and burns. we have made some dumb dumb dumb decisions in our time.

We traded Ben Finnin for Ronnie Burns. Ben never played for Geelong, but Ronnie played 20 games for us. Given Geelong paid most of his salary when here, it wasn't a bad trade.

Headache 1 good news here as posted elsewhere on this site, I have a friend involved with Panthers who spoke real highly of Hartigan and made a point of that he has real pace .
He also said has good skills and good team person and a real quality person.

Good to hear! Thanks for the info mate.

I think one issue with this season compared to last was that we went hard early and carried the momentum til the last quarter of 2012 season.

With us taking a 'soft' approach to the NAB Cup could be partly to blame, as it appears we have never gotten out of 1st gear for an entire match this season. That mindset is what I think has cost us.

Roo was asking Vince a lot about Mitch Grigg when Bernie came on just before. Roo doesn't normally ask that much about a particular player, let alone a player that hasn't made his debut. Sounded like he heard that Grigg may debut this week.

Grigg is making his making his debut this week. Bookmark it in.

Surely we will finally learn the lesson about selecting injured players.

We should not have played Wright or Thommo on Saturday (and I said this before the match). So do we now drop Wrighty because he played poorly? The smart selection was to give Petrenko a week at the Eagles. My aim for Friday would be to front up with as fit a team as possible, we are going to get a rogering in any case so we should take no chances.

Out - Riley (inj), Vince (inj), Thompson (inj), McKernan (inj -brain), Jaensch (even Vader has to get one right every year or so)

In - Petrenko, Mackay, Grigg, Lyons, Hartigan

Hopefully Sando will rethink his "Crouch was really tired at the end of the game, he might need a rest" comment. Crouch covered a huge distance whereas Wrighty sat in the forward pocket most of the night. I hopw Sando noticed his gentle jog as the Eagles raced the ball down the field in the last quarter.

Did Sando really say Crouch might need a rest? After how many AFL games in a row? Is he really considering resting our leading mid for the last 2 weeks when he's just hit form?

Starting to really worry about some of the crap he is coming out with.

Ha!

Where does Hartigan go? Otten/Talia/Rutten would have to be displaced some where?
Tambling should probably be looked at as well.

Don't see all the changes being made even gradually over a number of games the force of the gold passes are too strong.
And fellas like Porps passes completely recharge after a semi decent effort while still being slow sloppy and late to the contest taking out his team mate, being much a factor in the loss as anything else.

If true his coaching interview must of involved some mesmerizing peck muscle demonstration as everything he is saying is just bananas.

Has to be trolling us at this point...

Crouch got badly burned a few times because he didn't have the tank to run both ways. we're asking a lot of him playing him as a midfielder at 19 years of age. if he needs a rest, why not play him up forward or across half back?

If he wasnt knackered after the game, I'd be worried - they're meant to run themselves ragged, aren't they?

Our entire team lacks fitness, why single Crouch out?

Leave him in there, put some bloody demands and expectation on these young players!

Crouch is really struggling to run out a full game, no doubt. He and Lyons are no where near fit enough to be playing strings of consecutive games. Its a fact.

Its also one of the most damning facts against the training regime of the club. Both have multiple pre seasons under their belts and should be fit enough.

Wont giving them stings of consectutive games increase their fitness? Dropping the intensity by sending them back to the SANFL wont thats for sure.

No doubt our PS wasnt good enough. We need to lift the standard next season for sure. Sending these guys for a rest in the SANFL now though wont help them and with our season already gone, IMO they need to suck it up and just do their best at AFL level for the rest of the season.

Need to find some electricity across half back.

The key to your post is whether the club agree with your conclusion that the season is already gone.

When our fitness staff decided to hit the kids with another pre-season of weights, wrestling etc we saw plenty of PBs in the gym. Due to the extra kgs some players are playing with we a seeing a drop in speed, endurance and lateral movement. Mackay is not able to run and carry like he was last year, even players like Reilly needed to be dropped to lose a few kilos. Next pre season they must get the balance right
