You play Docklands Very Well and We play it Badly.

You will Smash us next week
How about we just give us the four points now and give us both a week off to prepare to have big wins against the Bombers/Dees the following week?

Maybe this is too left field, but perhaps it is time to play
Roarke Smith back and release Jason Johannisen and
maybe Matthew Boyd onto the ball more. The reality is
he probably is not ready or even close to ready, but at
least he can defend a player in the air. The brakes
have been applied and now everyone knows how to
stop the train.

So the jockeying for underdog (underpie?) status has already started.

I think you be Clear Favourites. It’s your Home Game and Cloke is gone for at least a Month.

and we're missing our first choice KPD and three first 22 inside mids. Nah evens I reckon 2 young lists giving supporters a good ride. Pies have played better footy than us for the last few weeks just the vagaries of the draw has us winning and Pies losing. Should be a good game.

True - Be a bit of a Line in the Sand Match. Both young Exciting list and both Fighting for a Spot in the Finals.

Could be a GF Preview for 3-5 Years into the Future;)

Maybe but do us both a favour and continue our good work with GWS and snaffle Treloar.

They will either replace Cloke with Moore or Goldsack so unless they drop White, we will still need 2 key defenders.

I'd love to see Talia play but I just don't see it happening, so I'd bring in Hamling and play Morris on the second key forward. I'd much prefer not to play Morris on the talls, but I just don't rate Roughead as a backman and want to see him in the ruck.

So I'd go
Out - Campbell, Prudden
In - Hamling, Jong

Jong comes in regardless of how he plays tomorrow. With Stevens out we need his grunt around the ball.

Dale's spot is up for grabs if someone plays well tomorrow.

The changes are pending Minson still being out injured. If he is back we have a bit of a dilemma on where to play Roughead. With Redpath and Boyd up forward as the talls along with Crameri/ Stringer, he can't go there.

I just don't think he is a key defender although with not much opposition next week we may get away with it

In: Jong, Talia, Webb
Out: Campbell, Prudden, Redpath

M.Boyd Talia Wood
JJ Morris Murphy
Jong Wallis Macrae
Dahlhaus Crameri Dickson
Stringer T.Boyd Hunter

Roughead, Bont, Picken

Webb, Daniel, Grant | Dale

Dale could come in pending Hrvoat's game tomorrow.

Dale come in, or do you mean Webb?
Dale is already in

I'm a little surprised you dropped Redpath, thought he was decent
apart from missing a couple of kicks on goal

Redpath out after a goal and 10 tackles, i thought he was fairly effective in a forward line not getting the delivery it needed

Predicting a few changes this week as you can tell by Bevo's comments that he was really disappointed about this one.

Jong definitely needs to come in to add some size and speed around the packs

Not sure what Prudden gives us. He's small, slow, and fumbles a lot.

I'd give Dale another week at this level as we need speed and his ball use is good wgen he gets it

We need another tall defender.

Redpath was super impressive yesterday. One of the very few good stories out of the game. I cant remember the last time a key forward had 10 tackles in a game - pressure machine.

Going on the way Beverage has picked his sides this year, Talia is doing something wrong that he thinks makes him not warrant a game. Whatever it is kept him out against Geelong because structurally it made sense to play him, even if he isn't in the best form.

If he doesn't address whatever it is he needs to work on today in the 2s then he won't be back next week on principle.

Prudden isn't in our best 22 in my opinion. I'm glad we gave him 2 weeks but Webb for Prudden makes us a stronger side.

If Minson is fit he comes in for Campbell if not Campbell hold his spot.

I thought Dale struggled but he was against the more mature Geelong bodies. The pies are a young side so he might be retained. I like Dale for Jong though.

If Hamling is fit he comes in.

Outs
Campbell (won the hitouts but needs to direct them a bit better)
Prudden (sorry prudden fans but he offers this side nothing)
Dale (I say we let him play out the season in the 2's and really dominate - when he gets a preseason under his belt he will be best 22)
Hunter (played alright - best 22 dont think so)

Ins
Talia
Hamling
Jong
Hrovat

Roughead moves to the ruck. Tom Boyd as secondary. Stevens is missing a few weeks by the sounds of it.

Team

Wood, Hamling, Morris
Murphy, Talia, Boyd
Daniel, Bontempelli, Macrae
Dahlhaus, Redpath, Crameri
Stringer, Boyd, Dickson
Roughead, Wallis, Picken
Jong, JJ, Grant
Hrovat

Possible ins:

Jong - a definite in for mine. We're lacking a presence inside and a bit of speed around the contest, both of which he can offer.

Webb - can be thrown inside the contest if needed and helps us work the ball out of defence cleanly. Dependent on form in the VFL today.

Minson - Bev thinks he'll be good to go this week. Likely comes straight back in.

Hamling - haven't heard much about him but you'd presume he's back this week. Good matchup for White. In if fit.

Hrovat - might be his opportunity to be given more time inside the contest. Dependent on form.

Talia - out of form and out of favour, but if Hamling doesn't come up we may need him. Curious to see where he plays in the VFL today - named at FF.

Hamilton - seems close after travelling with the team last week. Could add a bit of class going forward. Should be relatively fresh.

Kelly - very left-field selection, but adds some height and versatility to our side, as well as an extra option down back. He's a bit more mature as well, which may be handy as our kids begin to feel the grind of a long season. Dependent on VFL form, but should be considered in my opinion.

Possible outs:

Prudden - played an ok game but doesn't have a lot of tools at his disposal and is a tad slow. Think he comes out for somebody that provides a bit more in the middle, although I concede it would be harsh. There were many worse yesterday.

Campbell - I actually thought he was alright in the ruck, but did very little else and probably comes out if Minson is fit.

Crameri - wasn't great yesterday but I'd opt to keep him in. I just don't think he's a midfielder and I think both he and the team are suffering from his heavy midfield minutes. Jong coming in hopefully takes some of that midfield time away from him and allows him to generate space up forward.

Dale - would be harsh, despite limited impact yesterday. I question what he learns from demotion as he's already dominant at VFL level. I'd be inclined to keep him in and play him as the sub, where he's had some success for us...but unfortunately we're lacking a bit of grunt and height in the AFL side at the moment, neither of which he offers.

Roughead - if Minson comes in and Cloke goes out, there may not be a real matchup for Rough down back with Gault injured. If Witts isn't suspended (honestly don't know which way the MRP will go with this, didn't look nice though), I think it's in our best interests to choose between Roughead and Minson.

So I'd go...
OUT: Prudden, Campbell, Dale
IN: Jong, Minson, Hamling

Dependent on MRP/injury news from the Pies, Roughead could also come out or Minson not come in.

Sub a difficult call this week. Maybe Grant.

What did everyone think of big tommy game ??? I didn't think he was that bad, he and roughy going forward are our future rucks.

He was good. Actually when he went into the ruck he was very good.

On a few occasions he was in the wrong position to mark due to poor kicking coming forward but he competed and brought the ball to ground and then followed up with a tackle or locked it in at ground level.

A lot of people are calling for certain forwards to be dropped, but we don't really have many who can come in and replace them and we need goals more than anything at the moment. With Roberts and Hamling possibilities to come in, it will add to our already dour defence, but I don't know if there's many who could come in and help us with our scoring woes. As many others have identified, a firing Jong would be huge for us.

I thought he played fairly well and took some nice contested marks at times, the fact he's so much better in the ruck than Ayce puts him in a good position to retain his spot on the list. However, he probably doesn't provide enough flexibility for the Beveridge model. That said he did drop back well on a few occasions.

Smith is a Rookie so he can't play unless upgraded

I was at the game so I might have missed something. What did I miss with Tom Campbell? I thought he played pretty well. Why is everybody dropping him this week

Anyway, early week thoughts:

Out: Grant, Prudden, Dale and Daniel
In: Webb, Stevens, Hamling and Jong (depends on injury and VFL form today)

Jong not up to AFL at the moment. Others are playing better at VFL level.

So I'd go...
OUT: Prudden, Campbell, Dale
IN: Jong, Minson, Hamling
Replace Jong with Biggs. We'll still be lacking inside the contest but unfortunately Jong isn't there at the minute. Hopefully he can build some form.
