I’m sort of surprised but in a wet game the opposition contested marking is less of threat and ground balls, spoiling and intercepts are of more importance (all of which Young and Cordy are superior to Trengove in)

Risky call but if conditions are going to be fair I understand it.

I don’t think Bev rates Trengove back and he’s been dying for an intercept marking tall all year, particularly with Naughts forward. Young showed some signs of being that player.

The reality is that if we win the midfield battle and the ball spends more time in our forward half then having a lot of mobile backs will allow us to tear them up. If we’re getting smacked out of the middle and they keep bombing in to one on ones to ruck/Walker we could have issues.

Young and Trengove is a much stronger partnership than Young and Cordy. I've been confident all week until this decision, nervous about Tex and Fogarty now. Wish we could have done this experiment in a less vital game.

The only reason logical reason not to pick Trengove is due to not having a matchup. Adelaide don’t have a genuine key forward, they have three lead up third talls.

Suspect there could be a late change with Trengove in if conditions turn foul.

Don’t know why but I’m feeling a bit uncanny about Sunday’s game. All the indicators point to a win, but when that’s been the case earlier this year against lower teams we’ve fluffed it.

Hopefully the lads know that it’s up to them as to whether of not they want it badly, to play finals footy.

You'd be disagreeing with just about every Adelaide supporter, feel free to ask them yourself.

The guy is as slow as anything now, like much of Adelaide's forward line.
Reckon even fewer Crows fans would say Walker's big danger is as a stay at home shoulder to shoulder gorilla cos he's not that player

I know what you mean I’ll be bricking it until the game starts on Sunday. Legit have been sleeping terribly all week.

I would have dropped Cordy rather than Trengove. To me Cordy has been on thin ice for a while, even when we have been playing well. I just don’t think he looks confident, particularly in one on one contests. Young had to stay in after his performance last week. West in is a good call.
Agree. Trengove FB and Young CHB would have been the better combo IMO. Lost faith in Cordy some time ago.

Adelaide board are thinking they will get flogged as they are going with Jacobs in the team over O'Brien, makes the Trengove discussion over here look like nothing

Geez that’s risky, particularly with the likely conditions. Conceding marks close to goal could be a real killer in a low scoring game.

Bev continues to confound and disappoint me when he has a full list to choose from. Hopefully it’s just my nuffy instincts.

Did Lewis Young's game against Harry Himmelberg somehow lead you to believe he will be conceding marks to inferior opponents this week? Confounded and disappointed by this post.

The reason Bevo is such a brilliant coach is that he is willing to put faith in the young blokes when they have shown in some way that they deserve his trust. The stakes of this game would cause those with a bit less fortitude to make the "safe" option while Bevo just does whatever will give us the best chance to win.

I'm admittedly a bit of a Bevo-sympathizer and love his coaching style more than many on here though. Something he has always talked about is having a healthy appetite for risk which I love. The "safe" option is often not the correct one but most prefer to err on the side of caution.

If you think this is a big gamble then remember back to 2016 when we played a bloke who had 7 games under his belt in a GF.

When you've got players like Bont, Macrae, Dunks & Naughton and your worried about the defence, so negative lol

If we make it, we’ll highly likely be playing the giants:

Cameron - Cordy
Himmelberg - young
Finlayson - wood

Lachie keefe played forward last week. He’s the potential Trengove match up.

If that’s the case, Cordy will get a hiding

so, Walker is a hard leading forward who has a little problem.

On a more serious note, I like Trengove's form in the 2nd half of this season but he is a very lumbering tall. I thought Lewis Young showed last week that he has overtaken Trengove for a KPB spot.

Walker is very little threat these days, nothing much to be scared off. There's half a dozen Crows players you'd put work into before him.

I thought about this. We will need both during a finals run. I think Cordy would take the omission harder. Trengove will be right. Let’s hope it pays off.

One thing that hasn't been focused on is how much gastro might have knocked English around, and how crucial it might be to have Trenners as a chop out. If Timmy can't run Jacobs off his feet and gets smashed in hitouts, we're going to have a problem. Gut feeling (geddit?) is that this selection is a mistake, looking forward to hopefully being proven wrong!

He's still had some big games this year, and is a powerful unit with plenty of experience.

As good as Young was last weekend, who was his opponent? For most of the game he was zoning off Lachie Keeffe, who's a snail. He wasn't playing on Cameron or Finlayson, by far GWS's best tall forwards, who weren't playing. Even in the first quarter, he was beaten twice by Keeffe in the strength battle.

Again, still a great performance, but Adelaide's forward line should be a much tougher challenge, and it's disappointing not at least having the option of Trengove. I know many people like how Beveridge is giving youngsters a chance, but Rhylee West? Giving him his second game in a do-or-die clash? As opposed to a battle hardened Trengove off the back of a strong performance? Personally, I don't agree with the decision.
