Preview Changes vs Dogs

very tall team lets just hope that if we do make finals its not raining!
If you think our team is tall check out the dogs, Cordy, Roughead, Minson, Grant, Lake, Hargrave and Austin. Thats 7 very tall boys in the dogs lineup .

We have got the right balance this week and our defence looks more traditional and potent

Disagree, people obviously want garlett and milky's form rewarded with selection but the positions they are vying for are taken by players who are better than them. You need to have the right balance of players and sometimes its just a case of being unlucky that similar players are doing well in the seniors.
Milky is being kept out of the side by azza and to a lesser extent LT. Untill they start to string a few bad/average games together milky will still be in the 2s and just has to wait.
Cruize is being kept out by JZ,Cunners, basti, swallow and to a lesser extent adams. Again cruize has to wait for them to start playing poorly before he would get named.

Sydney (bad), GC (average) WC (bad) in a row for Azza.

Milky deserves his chance, whether its Edwards or otherwise.

Great changes. This is what i wanted last week. We needed that extra tall floater back, Goldy has to be in the team and the forward line will de dangerous with drew and Hamish.

Like it a lot.

yea azza definitely will not want to have a poor game this week otherwise milky might take his spot

I think we've got to find room for Milky soon. Consistently strong VFL form is surely good enough for AFL?

I also don't buy the argument that he is only trying to take Edwards' place because they are similar players. They are similarly sized but they play different games.

I'd play Azza from the pocket, Warren from the HBF, occasionally drifting further forward.

Much as I like Kieran Harper, I'd suggest if he doesn't perform this week, Warren would offer more and I'd make that switch for the Port game.

Harps is definitely one keeping milky out, the other 2 are LT and azza.
I never said you couldn't play both azza and milky in the same side, just pointing out one of the players keeping milky out.

**** alot of shit gets thrown up each week.
The changes vs weekly thread would have to be that full of ****wits.
Not only are the suggested changes stupid the discussion is pathetic.
And it wouldn't be the changes thread if someone didn't get up proudly on their high horse :thumbsu:

Did you expect to come here and find everyone in agreement on "no change" after that performance?

Oh dont get me wrong its a warranted thread.
What gets me dirty is that by the end of the week the thread has reached a peak level of sheer insanity.
IMO it should be closed once we know the exact 22.
Mods used to do this i believe but now it just carries on.

Pull your head in mate.

It sounds harsh but i meant what i post.
By Sunday there will be calls to drop Petrie.

It's time to throw things around.

Atley, L.Delaney, Thompson
Firrito, C.Delaney, MacMillan
Wells, Swallow, Harvey
Thomas, Petrie, Adams

Anthony or Harper should be the sub, it would be silly to use the debutant as the sub, start him in the 21.
Anthony is an accumulator not much of an impact player. Harper for sub IMO.

Has struggled to stay involved in games the last couple of weeks and has shown he can have an impact in a quarter of footy when the heat has gone out of it.

Not sure about this. HMac is not a natural forward. What's the most number of goals he's ever kicked in a game? I'm going to guess 3.
Warren would have been better, has been playing well and kicking goals. Even Hansen to a lesser extent. Surprised he still can't get a game at round 7.

I can see that now, but I vaguely remember this argument being floated before.

Hope he goes well again in the 2s tomorrow. Another bag and he either gets picked or prepares himself for an almost certain delisting at the end of the season.

When has he spent all game as a forward to give you an indication on whether he can play forward or not and whether his career high is adequate?

Its obvious Hamish is not a great forward. He can take a mark and kicks OK, but is otherwise very limited.

He is not our answer as a full time KPF.

He doesn't have the agility or movement to be anything other than a resting goal square forward. When you're out of the play once the ball hits the deck you'd want to be a dominant mark, which he is also not.

Mods used to do this i believe but now it just carries on.

The reason that's changed is because Chief sends out the BF News email each week which includes links to each board's changes/selections thread. One week one of them had been closed and Chief said he wants them left open.

FWIW I'm in the yotr camp, re these threads. They start like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and end up making some semblance of sense by the following weekend.

He's been on the list for nearly 10 years. Don't you think if he had forward attributes then he would have been played there more than he has over the last decade?

I've got no problem with H playing there as the resting forward. Then when he relieves goldy in the ruck goldy can go on the bench for a break. Goldy is pretty average up forward. When this happens you chuck Edwards in the square.

When Goldy is in, he rucks 80% of the game, occasionally resting forward. The other 20% H is in the ruck, the rest of the game in the goalsquare or at CHF. It's the most workable solution. We need Goldy, no doubt, but he has to be the prime ruck choice. H is valuable in other ways and a better mark than Goldy.

That said, Goldy took some nice grabs last year, including the one against Melbourne.

He has spent probably half that time developing in the 2nds or been injured. The rest he has been either our No 1 ruckman or 2nd ruck.

It should be blatantly obvious why he hasn't played as a permanent forward and it's not because he is no good at it.
