Looks like Brad is going to start spreadingthe development around, good work, keep it merit based and reward those that demonstrate the required endeavour and who will complement the team structure #thumbs up# hope Warren gets a game, really looking forward to seeing if he has made the next step.

Jones out but Cordy and Grant in provides them a bit of height

This is true. Plus Dickson who I believe is a medium forward. Doubt they'll go the double ruck as their key position posts though??

I got 2/3 changes right, mckenzie and goldstein in for taz and mullett. Thought narni might come in for pedo, narni probably needs 1 more solid game in the vfl though.
Happy with the ins so far.

Mullett appears to be this year's Speight. Rarely get a full game and is often harshly dropped. I imagine McKenzie will get the sub role, hoping he gets his hands on it when he comes on :thumbsu:

Thought Hansen would have been in for sure, quite surprising but not shattering news.

Good to see Sirra getting close. Cam Delaney too, although I don't think he should play.

I want Warren in but still not sure where he fits or who misses for him.

I hope McKenzie starts on the ground, don't think he is the right type of player to use as the sub especially in his first game he should get time to adapt to the conditions and intensity. Also don't think we have ever used a debutant as the sub last year.
I reckon LA or harps as the sub

If Hansen & Grima play well & McMahon gets fit, it will be a log jam getting into the back line in coming games.

I don't want to hear talk of Tarrant again unless he has several consecutive games in the 2s where he kicks multiple goals.

If McKenzie plays he has to start.

Pedo surely will be a late out. We can't go in with 5 talls against 2. The Dogs other talls dont really play tall.

I'm shocked. Was told Tarrant played well and lots of us were very harsh.

Then Brad drops him?

Confused?

You are confusing calls for perspective on his performances with him playing well. Not surprising considering the whole sky is falling mentality around here when it comes to Robbie. After his two and a half games this year you'd reckon he was a one legged, one armed footballer if you listened to the hysterics around here.

That said he was always an out this week and rightly so, especially with Goldy ready to ruck.

Anyone think Warren will play?
Anthony a cert to start. Pedo on thin ice?

You'd think Adams, Anthony and McKenzie were certs on the bench so it's probably between Pedo and Warren for that last spot. Personally I hope Warren gets it. Pedo was disappointing last week

He would be a certainty if the side was picked on merit.
If they are going to play a style like last week, he should be an automatic inclusion.

Pointless playing both Petrie and Tarrant if we setup like that. We need mobile forwards who can work hard up and down the ground.

If the side was picked on merit ie vfl form, Garlett would be lining up for game 50 this week rather than Zeibell, Atley would still in the VFL, and Tarrant would be waiting to debut.

What the coaching staff need to do is evaluate what skills these kids posses, do we need these skills at AFL level and can they translate those to the top level. With kids like Mckenzie, Harper, Atley, even Tarrant, the answer to the first two questions is yes. We don't know the answer to the final question until they play.

Two things,

  1. The sky is not falling.
  2. Tarrant is not good enough for AFL.

People who have been involved in top flight footy for a very long time disagree with you. But I guess you must be right, hey?

I'd love to know what they base that on.

My suspicion is he must have shown real promise as a kid. But effectively missinmg 2 years due to injury must have wrecked his confidence, maybe even his feel for the game.

Possibly, but they trained him as a forward all preseason, so you would think that they would have seen something to suggest he could be a viable option over that period before they picked him as a forward season proper. They wouldn't just pick him in the ones on hope that he might just perform.

I agree that he needs to show more, hit harder, take more marks etc, but calls for him to never play AFL again are just shite, stupid calls. Look at his three games this year. He lasted less than a half against the Bombers due to a hammy twinge and in that time was shifted from forward back to defence because our poor selection left us short down there. He did reasonably well against GC, 18 touches and 4 marks, and linked up well at times and got involved in a lot of scoring set ups. Some would rather focus on a shanked kick and a dropped mark though. Against the Eagles he was poor, 8 touches and 3 marks. But considering that Dish had 11 and 5 and Edwards 9 and 3 I guess you could say that it wasn't a good day for marking forwards. Besides, how good is Darren Glass?

I just want some freaking perspective on the performances of a guy who has not had much exposure to senior football and not to have him hung, drawn and quartered by the frenzied masses. Context and perspective. The guy is a work in progress who has aspects of his game to work on. The drop to the VFL is the right call. It's up to Taz now to knock the door down and it will be tough for him to do so.
