Tarrant needs to go back to the VFL and DEMAND to be picked.

At least show some physical presence.

This. Although I thought that once he was in the team he should have been given 5 weeks to establish himself, I never thought he should have been there to begin with.

Now he absolutely must show Warren-esque VFL form in my opinion before being given another crack.

People who have been involved in top flight footy for a very long time disagree with you. But I guess you must be right, hey?

What i think has happened is they (match committe) have said "let's see what Tarrant has to offer because if he doesn't show by years end he will be delisted". The problem with this is that, in my opinion, winning games should be all we care about, as such we should play the guys that give us the best chance to win each week.

Scott has experimented with Tarrant and it has failed. Unless tarrant starts dominating games at VFL level (something he has not been able to do to date) he will never play for North again and be de-listed come years end.

The frustrating part for me, is that all preseason i heard Tarrant would get first opportunity above Pedersen and Black. The Pedersen one in particular vexed me as he was a solid contributor all last year. I suspected Tarrant would not hold his spot, and i have so far been proved correct, given he hasn't kicked a goal, or taken a contested mark as a KPF thus far.

I don't hate the guy, i hate that fact he was picked to play (especially in round 1 vs Essendon - a game last year Pedersen kicked 3 in).

Anyways, Go Roos for this week. I expect to win the next 3, or the years over and they can play Tarrant to their hearts content.

Whats the deal with Lachie Hansen?? His form has been reasonable in the 2's..

but couldnt even make the 25 man squad despite Taz being dropped??

Yeah, I know & agree.

Maybe Bradles is really trying to give him a rocket.
He'll hopefully take a couple of VFL games by the scruff of the neck & demand to be invited back to the top flight, full of confidence.

In Mckenzie Goldstein C Delaney

Out Perderson Mullet Tarrent
Pederson for Delaney is interesting, obviously this really frees up Thompson and Firrito so I don't mind it.

McIntosh & Goldstein must impact the scoreboard as we are effectively playing without a CHF.

The forward line loses nothing, and we get an extra Ruckman. So not much changes there this week IMO.

The back line looks better with an extra tall. I actually expected Pederson to fill McMahons spot last week, it appears they are finally doing that and its great that the two Delaney brothers get to play together :thumbsu:.

Hopefully BMac can set us up coming off HB this week. They should be looking to free him up whenever possible. I also agree with other posters that it would be great to see him take a few kick ins, just to see if it makes a difference.

I think this structure actually reflects the setup we had at the start of the year a little more than we have seen the last couple of weeks.

First game the Delaney brothers have played together? Looking forward to the backline equivalent of Krakoeur magic!

Shame Warren couldn't get a crack, unless there is a severe loss of form or injury to Edwards or Thomas, I don't see how he's going to get a chance. Just got to keep plugging away in the magoos I guess.

It does give the backline a better balance. Two kpd plus Thompson as third tall. Allows Spud to attack from a flank with a more suiable match up.
i think Cam needs to put on some kg's before he can really be considered a KP, he's like 194cm 86kg, he will get monstered by any forward.... otherwise i like the kid.... actually i see our boys down at subway a fair bit a few of them really need time in the gym.

Surprised to see Cam get the nod but will be good to see the boys play together. Dogs brought in 3 tall-ish players so we're matching them in that department. Warren stiff but hope to see the forward line play into some form. Need Drew and the ruckmen need to hit the scoreboard.

Hope McKenzie isn't sub. Want to see Anthony get that role personally.

It's possibly the best structure we've gone in with thus far. Goldy should now do 80% of the ruckwork, with the colossus that is H parked at CHF. Not too many backmen will be able to cope with him, plus he's quite mobile as well and finds space.

The best change for mine though is to look at where Atley is named. Outside, where he can receive from Ziebell, Swallow etc, take it and GO. :thumbsu:

B Scott is clearly trying to set up the next North Melbourne dynasty. Picking for the future, not necessarily the best team of the day.

How are these Delaney boys? They look the part (194cm) and still young. Are they going to be cornerstones of our defense for years to come?

I love seeing brother combinations in teams. We've got to keep working on this swallow connection...

LOL at Brad talking about players who perform in the vfl will get a crack, Milky and Cruize must be invisible.
Yep. All I ask for is that guys who are in form get a chance. Warren is very stiff. There have been plenty of opportunities to play him and still he misses. Poor old Teffy and DarwinRoo. :stern look

horrible, Bulldogs exploited Collingwoods talls in the backline last week with a small forward line, going taller there may hurt us

Most sensible post so far.

I have always found its best just to forget/ignore what he says in the media (which is usually just to promote the club, no substance in it whatsoever), and focus on what he does for the club - which does seem to be on the right track :thumbsu:

BIG H is a great mark.
Very impressed with a couple of his grabs last week.

For the 3rd year running.

Disagree, people obviously want garlett and milky's form rewarded with selection but the positions they are vying for are taken by players who are better than them. You need to have the right balance of players and sometimes its just a case of being unlucky that similar players are doing well in the seniors.
Milky is being kept out of the side by azza and to a lesser extent LT. Untill they start to string a few bad/average games together milky will still be in the 2s and just has to wait.
Cruize is being kept out by JZ,Cunners, basti, swallow and to a lesser extent adams. Again cruize has to wait for them to start playing poorly before he would get named.

Garlett's direct competitor is adams for the small nutty peter bell mid. Adams is a big improver ever since 2007. With elite players like Ziebell, Cunnington, Greenwood taking the main mid role in the coming years, Adams will easily become one of those accidental A graders through hiding among elite companies.
