One of those guys has won a best and fairest. DMac could only dream of that

400kay couldnt even dream of being a BOG let alone winning a best and fairest.

Douglas at least has a decent highlights package.

He would be lacking match fitness, but ACTUAL fitness shouldn't be an issue.

Play him close to goal and let Fog and JJ roam up field.

Or he could treat the game as just another day in his mini season program. A nice change up. Flog himself by running up and doen and tackling all day long.

If Tex does a hammy, this board ...

They're definitely risking short term gain for long term pain. I'm not even sure how much "short term gain" there will be either, given that he still hasn't completed the mini pre-season and was absolutely awful last time he played.

Does this potentially stupid selection surprise you. These idiots still think we’re a chance.
All the strategic planning and patience of a 7 year old waiting for his/her birthday.

Not writting him off yet, but Myles has the vanilla stylings of a D-mac, Douglas or Rielly. Expect we’ll find out after 200 games.
Douglas really doesn't deserve to be in a list with the other two players. He is much, much better than they ever were or will be.

Which is strange because he played earlier in the year and from memory we had fewer injury outs then.

Yup, was out injured after round 1 and hasn't had a look in since.

Mind you, statistically, that game wasn't any better than a Poholke/Gooch has offered so far.

And played badly enough to get his card stamped.

The funny thing about him is I can't remember him ever being dropped. He always ends up out injured then on the outer when he returns. Maybe he has been and I've forgotten but I can't recall him actually being omitted.

I don't it as long as it doesn't continue all season if we lose on Sunday.

It really is the last chance saloon, so put all your available chips on the table for now.

If we get done then I would hope to see a change in philosopy.

He played a very good game in the wet vs Western Bulldogs and it seems to lessen his lack of pace.

Jarman will be delisted and Edwards is tracking pretty well.

Not sure that he does lack pace, I think it's more he lacks confidence that he belongs at this level, a sub 3.00 second 20m and 25.20 repeat sprint along with an 8.70 agility test and a 14.1 beep test are pretty respectable numbers athletically.

Brett Anderson's bio for the 2016 draft.

Myles POHOLKE
Ht: 183.7cm | Wt: 81.9kg | Medium Forward | Dandenong Stingrays

In many ways, Poholke is a ready to go from day one. He has the strong body required to take the hits at AFL level already, is very strong overhead in marking contests and relishes the physical contest. On the flip side, the big question is, where does he play? At the moment he is best suited as a half forward who can go onball at AFL level, but if he can continue to work on his midfield craft and spread better from the contest, he could eventually be a full-time midfielder down the track.

Strengths: professionalism, aerobic capacity, one-on-one.

Needs to improve: polish.

Injuries: None.

Combine test results: Repeat Sprint – 25.20. 20m Sprint – 2.98. Agility – 8.70. Beep Test – 14.1. 3km TT – 10:51.

Draft range: 35-50.

What they say: “Within six months of being added to Stingrays program he was given an AFL Academy spot and has become a true professional in his preparation and on-field goal setting. Should play in 2017 if taken plus has the nous and ready-made body to handle to heat.” – Dandenong Stingrays talent manager Mark Wheeler.

With another away game just 6 days later in Melbourne before the break, the madness of having Tex must be because we are obviously a better chance to roll Freo in Perth than the Hawks at the G.

Ironically continuity is a big thing for you, you've been gunning for Don continuously since he got here.

That's an untruth. I had reservations because he had only a few years as a coach at AFL level and half was under Neil Craig. It's natural that he'd be imprinted with some of Neil's attributes. And it's not unfair, given his relative inexperience, to be concerned that he'd potentially be in agreeance with what Neil's lesser characteristics were. Unfortunately, evidence continued to mount that Pyke may be too far along the Craig spectrum. And I have continued to express that concern. Hopefully, Pyke isn't as stubborn and improves on his weaknesses.

Was Tex brought in because of the Fyfe suspension? An interesting thought.

Amen to that.

I see why they bought him in over Gooch for a wet game like it predicted, but he needs to kamikaze into packs to make up for his massive lack of polish.

I thought Gallucci was good against the dogs. Made his possessions count. But no issues with us going with Myles.

Whilst I agree NC was stubborn, and to some extent so is Don, I don't necessarily believe it's as bad as you make out.

We've seen already this year that Don has tried things both on and off field that haven't worked. Therefore you go back to what you know, provided you are thinking of what to do next this isn't a bad thing.

Where Craig went wrong wasn't his inability to change, it was his inability to accept that it might be necessary. Don is playing to the strengths of the squad he has, and right now he doesn't have much of a squad.

It's also worth noting NC also had some very ordinary luck towards the end of seasons in his early days

You’re right. Douggie has had a very different trajectory and has gotten better with age in a number of areas. I spent a lot of time wanting him to be dropped during his fall-over pizza boy years that it’s hard to not fall back on bad habbits.

Maybe Doughty instead?

This is the perfect opportunity to play ROB and give Jacobs a rest (no flying either); but we know they’ll view it as an opportunity for Jacobs to regain his form...

Which translates into beating up on some second stringer, pretending it means something, and then watching him get torched by the next half decent ruck he’s up against.

I’ve had it with this club. There’s no way Mackay should be playing this week.

Disgrace!
We need Hampton and Gooch to play an absolute belters for the SANFL team as they’re the only realistic replacements for Mackay who are fit.

Once Knight and Smith are back, Mackay should make way.

Let’s just console ourselves that he still doesn’t have a contract for next season.

Depends on your expectations I guess.

Douglas is a good player; but is ‘good’ an acceptable standard across the career for a 200 game player with a Club Champion under his belt?
If he’s the 18th best player on your list, then it’s fairly easy to rack up 200 games

That’s how I see Dougy and Mackay. Dougy has always been between 8th and 12th best. Mackay 15th - 18th.

(Ignoring the year Dougy won the jacket, which was right in the middle of the valley of death for the club)
