Red was okay. Couldn't fault his effort, the non-negotiables were there, and I can't stress this enough, the delivery was utterly abhorrent. Missed a relatively easy shot at goal, but then, plenty did.

I'm certain he's not a long term piece, but he did what they would have asked of him.

Poleaxed Marc Murphy and Kade Simpson in separate incidents though, which I loved.

Redpath provided a target, brought the ball down and competed at ground level. Question mark remains on his long-term future, but I would be pretty disappointed if he was dropped this week. Did enough I thought, and has had a decent run of late in the VFL.

Funny the harsh marking of Redpath.
Id say his defensive pressure was better than Toyds has been and took 3 contested grabs.
Didnt hit the scorebaord but I believe it was as good if not better than 4 or 5 of Toyds games this year.

He doesnt straighten us up in the way Toyd does I concede but lets not marked him harder than we would anyone else

They've been ravaged by injuries, and they've now got most of them back and a huge win under their belt. It's also in their home state in familiar conditions.

On the other hand, we're missing Boyd, Roughead, Hamling, Liberatore, Hrovat, Honeychurch and McLean, all of whom would either be playing

Gee I hope the players don't think like this, they won't bother getting on the plane!

A new look team! Hopefully it freshens us up a bit and we hit the game running like the start of the year :)

Edit: I'm presuming one is a travelling emergency?

Familiar conditions? It's almost 2000kms from Gold Coast - the equivalent of Melbourne to Gold Coast! Haven't we not lost a game there?

Whats wrong with Hamling??
Maybe a sore back? He hit the ground pretty bloody hard in the Carlton game in one contest and had to go off. I think it was the last quarter?

This will be won with the ground ball and contested possession pressure. Smalls will be the key if the Cairns conditions live up to expectation.

My initial thoughts on viewing his fall were that his stomach muscles would have taken a lot of stress. May well have really flared up in the ensuing days.

Yeah he fell pretty hard and Talia is a better fit for Tom Lynch so I can accept that change, although I wouldn't understand it if we dropped him and Moz is still in the side with a fractured jaw. Not sure on a good matchup for Moz. Maybe Day if he plays forward this week.

Out: Honeychurch McLean Roughead Hamling
In: Talia Prudden(woo finally!!) Boyd Hunter

Has Prudden's form really earned him a call up?

Or is it more that the cupboard is empty and Bev doesn't want to gift Crameri a game?

Although very disappointed to have Roughead and Hamling out, will be very interested to see how our "3 talls" back and forward go:

Talia, Fletcher-Roberts, Morris
Redpath, Boyd, Stringer

He hasn't exactly been tearing it up, but he does show signs that he could handle AFL level as he has good composure and skills under pressure. Not sure if this is the week I'd have brought him in though, as his lack of speed might be exposed by the Suns.

Yeah worried about this too. Can't say I'm excited about the ins, Hunter, Prudden, Talia. Nor am I thrilled with Redpath and Boyd fwd. First game since Hawks that I'm punting against the Dogs :(

I'd be amazed if Prudden isn't the sub, but good on him for cracking a game :thumbsu:
